Since the meeting went smoothly, Asami wasn't that surprised over the words she heard over the security cameras. Yes, she was listening to the conversation because she was the one who was testing Mai. Anyways, Asami wasn't as shocked Mai thought she would be.

Asami understood what was going to happen. Sure, she was the one who always won the end of every deal, but you could say that Asami had given Mai an advantage. What was this advantage? Well, Asami chose a different person from the beginning, but then realized how horrible of an aunt she would be if she didn't let Mai return to Japan whenever she wanted, but only during vacation.

So, to be a great aunt, also the one who knew who would immediately agree to supporting the company just because they met Mai, Asami chose Luella Davis. Either way, Asami owed Luella a favor, and once Luella heard that Mai was the niece of Asami, she cashed in that favor.

Mai hugged Asami once she heard what she did. "Arigato auntie," she said with a smile. "How did you meet Lue- mom and dad?"

Asami couldn't believe that Mai accepted calling Luella and Martin, mom and dad. She wondered if it was because Luella wanted Mai to be her daughter-in-law because Luella apparently ships her son and Mai together, much to Mai's thoughts. Even Asami agrees with Luella, shipping Mai and Oliver, she only believes it because she could tell. Also, being a person in love with anime, always shipping characters and somehow getting all of them correct. One of them she messed up on, was because she thought that most childhood friends were cute together and they knew each other longer, but that was just her opinion.

Back to the real story, Asami told Mai her story. "Well, you see, Luella, Martin, and I met each other during college. What happened was that I was holding a stuffed toy since my little cousin gave it to me and everyone was laughing at me. Luella yelled at them saying, 'Admit it, you all had a stuffed animal before.' That's how I knew Luella. I knew Martin because Luella had a crush on him and talked about him everyday," she ended, rolling her eyes.

Mai laughed at her aunt's story. Her aunt's stories always found a way to make her laugh. Asami could even make a story funny even though the day of her story's topic is boring. "Really, mom had a crush on dad during college?" Mai immediately covered her mouth, she said mom and dad so casually.

This time, Asami laughed at Mai. "Mai, you do know it's alright to call them that when you're around me, right?"

Mai rubbed the back of her neck nervously. "Of course I did, why wouldn't I know?" She asked, lying casually, but as always, the lie showed through. "Anyways," she started, ready to change the subject. "Why did you make this deal with me? I know you don't like making deals with people close to you."

Asami quickly dodged the question by asking one of her own. "What are you talking about? I made a deal once with your parents and I won. I like to make deals with people close to me, it makes the deal riskier."

Mai frowned a little, knowing what her aunt had said was a lie. "Thanks for the answer Auntie. I should probably go see if SPR has any progress on the ghosts."

"Ghosts?" Asami asked. She knew that there was one ghost, but there was two! "There's more than one ghost in the factory?"

Mai nodded, "Yeah... Apparently the ghosts are after me and must've followed me here all the way to Japan."

Asami bit her bottom lip, more worried about Mai's safety. "Did you get injured today? Are you alright? How are you taking this?"

Mai shook her head at her aunt's actions. "Auntie, don't worry about it, I wasn't injured today." She had a feeling that Asami was going to ask if she was inured yesterday, so she answered that one. "I wasn't injured yesterday either. Seriously auntie, you don't have to worry that much."

Asami didn't want to believe after hearing about the cases she went on when she was a ghost hunter. "Mai, to tell you the truth... You could say that I wanted to see how strong you wanted to return to Japan."

Mai couldn't believe her ears. Her aunt wanted to see how strong her determination was about returning to Japan. "Aunt Asami, how could you? You know how much I missed Japan ever since I left. Why?"

Her aunt had lied about how she wanted to see her determination. Asami just wanted Mai to stay with her because she misses the feeling of having a loving daughter stay by her side. Sure, she has a daughter, but she lives all the way in Canda. Also, Luella keeps gossiping about how her son, Oliver, loves a girl named Mai. She automatically knew that it was her niece, but kept it to be a surprise for Luella. The last reason why she did it, was because she wanted to see how strong Mai's become ever since she came to America.

"Mai, I really do apologize, and I wish to make it up to you... But there's this flight I have to catch because of an important meeting with another business," Asami told Mai. That wasn't a complete lie. She did want to make it up to her, and she did have a flight, but the meeting with another business was a total lie.

She received a call from Japan's government about catching the man who killed her sibling and brother-in-law. She was to see if she wanted to press charges, but instead, she went to see if he was sane enough to have to meet Mai because Asami wanted her niece to be the one to make the decision since the people who were killed was her parents.

Mai believed her aunt about the flight, but she had a feeling that it wasn't a meeting with another business because she would have told Mai before about a week of the meeting so Mai would be prepared to watch the business until she returned.

Me: Hey readers! How are you doing today? I hope you're doing good o(^^)o To tell the truth, I haven't been doing well for the past couple of weeks because of some stuff that I learned... I don't want to bring the regular mood I show as I write down, so let's go onto the real topic. The story, Anew. This story is going to end soon, so I'm sad a bit, but my friends and I are planning to do stuff together! I was planning to do another event in this chapter, but unfortunately my 1000-1100 words were going to go close to 2000, so I decided to just stop here and have the second plan come in next chapter. By the way, I totally forgot that I was supposed to update four days ago, since that was the date the first chapter of Anew came out, indicating the one year anniversary of the first day of the first chapter. Thank you. I appreciate how you stayed with me throughout this story. It makes me happy that I have people who stayed with me and whatnot.   Now that that's over, let's hear for Lin!

Lin: *wishes to leave, but has to stay because Mana forced him* Mana does not own Ghost Hunt. She hopes you could vote, comment, or follow. Please keep this in your library, but you don't have to. Also, a little secret about Mana is that she is learning how to speak Japanese so she could go there one day.
