The goodbye was quite difficult. Let's just keep it simple and say that there were quite a few tears and an extremely long hug. Saying goodbye to Frey in person was difficult, even though I'll probably end up on call with her later tonight.
For the flight I downloaded Iron Man to watch while Nat was binge watching episodes of American Horror Story next to me. The flight honestly went by pretty fast and soon enough we were back in New York. It definitely felt different, well at least it smelt different for sure. North Carolina has a fresh more oceany air while New York's honestly felt dirtier. But hey, it's home.
Nat's mom picked us up from the airport after we got our luggage. We told her all about how our trip went, and after about a 30 minute drive, they dropped me back off at my house and I was home.
This place doesn't feel like home honestly to me. As much as I love New York, the area that I live in is not my favorite. Starting with my family, my mom and dad are both so hard on me with school work and grades because I want to be a streamer, which they definitely don't approve of. Most of the time they act like my online life doesn't exist, it seems like they forget that I have thousands and millions of supporters on a lot of platforms.
Then there's my brother, he's in college for engineering and he's way smarter than me. I constantly get compared to him and it's really a lot for me to keep up with. Even though he's like never home and I barely see him, my parents always find a way to compare me to him.
Another part is my school. To clear a few things up, I go to an all girls private school, so it's a bit different there. I've been online for this whole year, but after Christmas break I'm going back in person for the first time since the pandemic began. I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time I'm not. It's difficult for me to keep up with my schoolwork when I'm online because I don't have much motivation to do it, so hopefully at school I'll actually get my work done. The problem is, some of the girls at my school are so incredibly toxic and I have a bad history with several of them. Also, my channel blew up over quarantine, so I haven't had to face any of them about it, and I'm not sure if any of them even know.
Nat doesn't go to my high school either, she goes to a public school a bit further away, but it pretty well known in the area we live in. Yet when I go back to in person school, lacrosse conditioning begins as well, and I'm not ready. Yep, I play lacrosse. I'm so out of shape and I have not been practicing much. Coach makes us run so much at conditionings, and I know because I went to them for the past two years. Last year I made the JV team, but then our season got cancelled and I was bummed. This year is different though, because I'm planning on making varsity. I'm literally just terrified of conditioning, I hate running.
The part of New York I live in is more rural and suburban instead of the city part. Honestly, I love the city way more and I plan on moving there when I'm older, or just as soon as possible. I visit New York City a lot because it doesn't take that long to drive there from where I live. Nat and I tend to have many late night New York adventures.
Once I finished unpacking from my North Carolina trip, I took a seat at my gaming setup, which I had missed so very much. I turned on my monitor and hooked up my mouse, then I logged onto discord and went to see who was all online. Several vcs were full and I wasn't sure who was streaming or not, so I joined a random one.
"Autumn!" Fundy's voice rang and Niki greeted me next, "Hey Autumn!" "Hey." I smiled, "Who's all here?" "Eh just a few of us." Wilbur answered, "Want to play some stardew valley? Eret and Fundy are streaming by the way." "Sure, I absolutely love stardew." I replied and opened up the game.
Eret invited me to his co-op with Niki, Fundy, and Wilbur. I put in the code and was immediately logged into the same game as them. "Why does farming take so long." I complained and Niki chuckled, "It's doesn't take that long." "Well it's taking WAY too long because we all literally have no food in this game." I stated and Eret said, "Oh, I have a lot." "And you haven't been sharing it this whole time?!" I exclaimed and Eret's small stardew valley character approached me, "I didn't know you needed any." I face palmed and he proceeded to throw me an assortment of plants and other foods.
Wilbur came over to Niki and I, "Look! I got a fishing rod!" "Ooo good job Wil!" "I want it." Fundy stated and walked over. Wilbur stopped, "Wait wha-" "I want the fishing pole." Fundy repeated and Wilbur refused, "No Fundy this is mine." "Wilbur just give the furry the fishing pole." I sighed and Fundy cheered, "Yay Autumn's on my side! Wait did you just call me a furry." "Pffft no." I lied and Wilbur frowned, "My fishing pole. Mine." "But Wilbur, Fundy's a furry which eats fish." I tried to persuade him and Fundy got mad, "You know what never mind, I don't want the fishing rod and I'm not a furry!" "Aww Fundy." Wilbur laughed, "You can have the fishing rod if you need it for your furry little things." "Wait so I can have it?" Fundy asked and Wilbur went, "Mhm, as long as you admit you're a furry and you like fish." "Fine. I'm a furry and I like fish." Mumbled Fundy and Wilbur happily threw him the fishing round.
The streams finished up and I said goodbye to my friends. Then I hopped back into the familiar bed I hadn't slept in in days. I guess this is home, so welcome home me or whatever.
