( pretty short chapter, )

"JAMES, HI." SERENA GRINNED AT THE BOY IN FRONT OF HER. He sat down with a thump. "What's up? Shouldn't you be with your date?"

James let out a chuckle. "Don't have one. What about you -- where's Prince Daxon?" He said his name in a sarcastic tone, making Serena laugh.

"I think he ditched the ball without telling me, in all honesty." Serena sighed, laced in sorrow. She was really looking forward to dancing with him. James looked at the girl sympathetically.

"Hey, why don't we ditch the ball?" James smirked, earning one nod Serena, a smile coming onto her smile. If you told her a few months ago that'd she be spending her winter ball ditching the it with James Potter, she'd laugh in your face.

He took her hand, leading her out to the courtyard. It was very cold, and it was starting to snow. She'd only been wearing a dress, but the cold didn't bother that much. They sat down on a bench, looking up at the sky like they'd done the day before.

They both didn't utter a word, they were sitting in peaceful silence. The only noise was the music from the ball, and the sound of wind. James gazed at Serena in awe of how relaxed she looked. Her face were red from the cold, and she looked flawless to James.

"How are you liking Pride and Prejudice?" Serena spoke, glancing in between him and the clouds.

"I like it." He kept looking at Serena, not bothering to look up at the sky. "Have you done your report?"

She nodded. James didn't respond, moving his gaze up to the sky. The silence was soothing for the both of them, and it was nice. Serena thought about how stupid her and James' fights were, and how one sided it was.

James didn't mean to hurt her -- at all. It was just his way of joking around. Being mean was his sense of humor. Serena finally looked at James. "I truly am sorry for . . . being a bitch."

"It's alright, I was equally a bitch too." James smiled at the girl.

"I've never been able to understand you, James Potter." Serena had a small smile tugging on her lips, earning a laugh from the boy. "I guess the only reason I've never really liked you was because I was jealous. Dunno of what exactly. Maybe because you just were so friendly, and I could never be able to do that. Or how loyal you are, or how . . . how sweet you are."

She poured her heart as James listened. "Serena, you are sweet and friendly. You're like a book, people just need to be patient. If you're patient enough, then you'll get a good ending, y'know. And I'm glad I was patient because without you, I'd probably fail Muggle Studies and I'd probably be third wheeling with Remus and Siri right now,"

Butterflies invaded her stomach, as James made eye contact with her. He put his hand in her hair, bringing them in an almost-kiss. She put her hands on his cheeks, as he moved his hands down to her neck. There lips were barely touching, and James' heart was thumping very loudly, he was sure that she could hear it.

His breathe was war on her lips, making her stomach erupt in happiness. Maybe fate did exist? Maybe Daxon not coming was a good thing. After a few seconds, James finally moved their lips together.

Their lips fit perfectly with the other -- James thought their lips were just made for one another. The music from the ball made the moment even more perfect for Serena. A few seconds after, Serena pulled away with a smile. Her hands didn't leave his cheeks, as he kissed her nose.

He brought her into his chest, as they looked up at the sky. They heard footsteps behind them, making the couple whip their heads back.

"Serena! I am so sorry, I wanted to get flowers . . . and I got distraced. Oh, hi James." Daxon sighed as he walked up to them. James quickly moved his arms from Serena, as she moved away from James with a fake smile.

"It's alright." Serena said in a quiet tone. James tried his best not go absolutely ballistic on Daxon -- he'd never wanted to punch his perfect face so fucking much.

"So . . . what are you both doing out here?" His voice was laced with jealousy as he glared at James.

"Well . . .  I just took Serena out here because you decided to be late," James spoke in an annoyed tone.

"It was barely forty minutes!" Daxon sighed loudly as he took a seat next to Serena. He brought her hand up to his lips, kissing them. "I was getting flowers, I promise. They're with Eliza right now,"

James was throwing daggers at Daxon with his eyes. He fucking ruined it! After months of trying to win over Serena, they finally had the moment he'd been working for and he ruined it! That son of a bitch!

"Daxon, I think-"

"Yes I agree! I think we should go dance, like you talked about!" Daxon pulled Serena away from James before he or Serena could say anything. "Bye Potter!"

Then James just sat there -- alone. His lips and arms missed Serena, and he decided from that moment on that he didn't care about Daxon -- or even if they were dating at that point, he just needed to get her.
