SERENA HEARD LOUD NOISES COMING FROM OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR. She immediately sat up in bed and looked outside the window - It was Christmas Day and it was snowing! Serena grinned and got out of bed and put on her slippers. As she was ready to walk down the stairs, she was met with James. He smiled happily and she returned the gesture.

"Merry Christmas, Fraser."

"Merry Christmas, James." She blushed. They stood there, looking into each other's eyes. James was about to say something before Mrs. Potter came up the stairs and saw them. She smirked and looked at James, who gave her an displeased look.

"Oh I didn't mean to interrupt-"

"No, no! You aren't interrupting anything!" James said in a hurry and Mrs. Potter nodded slowly as Serena looked at him, knitting her eyebrows. She was annoyed with his quick response and the tone of voice.

She isn't interrupting anything but they were having a moment - was it one-sided? Serena thought they were, but apparently they weren't.

"I just came up here to see if you were awake, dear. We're all about to have breakfast in a bit so go downstairs. James and I will go wake Sirius." Mrs. Potter spoke kindly to Serena as she nodded.

"But mum, Remus already-" James wanted to protest but his mother gave him a stern look. He obliged and they both turned to walk to Sirius's room. Mrs. Potter grinned at Serena.

"Merry Christmas, love."

"Merry Christmas to you, too, Mrs. Potter."

After getting Sirius to wake up after splashing water onto him, the family all sat in the dining room and ate breakfast. Mrs. and Mr. Potter talked about the latest news whilst Remus and Sirius argued over who got the best presents. James and Serena both sat in silence, eating their food.

Mrs. Potter noticed this and tried to converse them but it didn't work and she started to get irritated because of the two. They were both too stubborn to see just how in love they are with each other. She isn't one to meddle in her son's business but she isn't going to let the hard-headedness of her son get in the way of his love.

She had to make some kind of plan to help the two before they leave. "Okay! Let's clean up and go open the presents, children."

"But I'm not done, dear." Mr. Potter said before Mrs. Potter gives him 'the' look. He sighs and quickly starts picking up the plates from the table. As they started walking to the living room, James and Serena bumped into each other awkwardly.

Sirius noticed their tension and rolled his eyes impatiently. "Merlin, when is this going to end!"

James gave his friend a dour look, urging him to just shut up and Serena sighed angrily and walked away to go sit with Remus on the couch. Sirius glared at James, serious.

"You needa fix this before we go back to Hogwarts. You needa confess already, Prongs."

They all sat around the Christmas tree and started handing out presents. First Mr. and Mrs. Potter was up to give presents. They handed out the presents.

Sirius opened his the first because he's very impatient. He gasped. "Oh my god! A walkman?!" He gasped before Mrs. Potter nodded. He jumped up and gave her a hug. "Ugh, you're the best parents anyone could ask for!"

"Technically Pads, they're mine but-"

"James, sharing is caring!" Sirius argued back before the room erupted in laughter. Everyone gifted their presents to one another and Serena got everything she wished for and more. She got a cookbook from Mr. and Mrs. Potter, a journal from Remus because one time she told him she wanted to start a journal and she got earrings from Sirius. She thinks they're something he stole from his mother because there was no way he could afford them, but she was grateful nonetheless.

Finally, it was James's turn. She opened his present quickly. It was a book - Pride and Prejudice, but it was special edition. And it was brand-new. She smiled happily up at James. For the entire hour they were opening gifts, she hadn't even acknowledged him. But now that she looks at him, I mean, truly looks at him and his beautiful smile, the realization hit her.

She loved him.

There was no other feeling to express what she feels for James Potter. It changes from time to time, yes, but isn't that the surprise of love? She could hate him all she wants but at the end of the day, he still made her feel something no one has ever managed to make her feel. She looked into his crystal blue eyes and she saw a future where she was happy, with him.

"Oh, James." She was speechless. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and grinned at the girl. "I-I don't even know what to say, truly. This must've costed a fortune - and it's the special edition one, too?"

"It wasn't even that much," James blushed as he looked at girl. Actually, it was quite a lot. Not the money, at least - he had to track down someone who had the special edition book (that wasn't old and withered), someone was willing to sell, and someone who wasn't overseas. It took months.

"This is the best present anyone could ask for, James, really. It's so beautiful. Thank you, James. Thank you." Serena was so happy she could barely contain herself. She was grinning the entire time her cheeks started to hurt. All the wanted to do was grab him by his stupid face and kiss him. Not only that, but she wanted to tell him. She wanted to say the words to his face so he knows it, too. "I love you, James Potter." She wanted to scream.

"Okay, okay, enough you lovebirds." Sirius rolled his eyes earning a kick from Remus. James and Serena made eye contact once again and they laughed at his words as they continued opening gifts.
