Lily's POV

The best part about this week is that it's the last one before winter break. I have two days before I get 2 weeks off from this hell hole. And I couldn't be happier. Except I still have to get through the next three days.

"Lily?" I hear my name ring through my ears and I snap my head to look at the person who said it. "Yes?" I say lightly, realizing it was Aaron and remembering I was sitting at a lunch table. "well I've been trying to get your attention for like 5 minutes."

"Oh sorry I didn't realize." he rolls his eyes, dropping it but the annoyance is radiating off of him. I drop my head to look at my lap as he begins to ignore me and talk to a guy across from him. I feel Violet's cold hand appears on top of mine, I look up and her eyes are soft. I give her a reassuring smile, gisting how I'm fine and Aaron had no effect on me. Her eyes look over my face, inspecting every detail, before mouthing an 'are you sure' in which I reassure her with a nod. She smiles and looks forward again, giving Aaron a silent glare. She gives my hand a squeeze when I keep my head silently down.

"How long do we have left till lunch ends?" I whisper, she looks at me immediately, "what?" I shift in my seat and repeat myself a little louder this time. "How much time is left for lunch?" she checks her phone, "um about 8 minutes why?"

"No reason, I'm just bored," I explained, her eyebrow raises slightly before she looks around and stands up, pulling my hand to do the same. "Let's solve that." I follow her, but I can feel Aarons's eyes burning into my back. This might be a bad idea but who cares. When we get into the hall she stops, "let's walk around, we have a second."

We walk at the same pace in silence until we are fully away from the lunchroom. "So what'd you do this weekend?" she asks, I look at her but keep my pace. I rack my brain of all the events, even though there were minimal. "Uh, my mom was gone so I just hung out at my house. Nothing exciting. Did you do anything fun?"

"Nope. Now that we require another topic, how about we plan something."

"Okay, what are you doing this Friday?" She's silent for a second, I assume she's scanning her mind to remember any plans. "I have no plans till Saturday, what would you like to do?"

"Well my house isn't exciting but my mom works late that day so we can hang out at my house? Like watch a movie or something?" she smiles lightly, her steady pace not faulting as we continue the conversation. "Sounds perfect, maybe order some food?"

"I know we were just at lunch, but I'm starving. School food sucks." she laughs, "you can say that again." but then she stops, looking at me but I stop a step ahead not expecting it. "Have you ever skipped the second half of school?"

"I'm scared to answer that question, but no." her eyes widened, expecting me to say I have.

"Your kidding! We totally have to skip, it's part of the senior experience. We can get lunch to make up for the gross school food." I tilt my head at her, rubbing my hands on my pants. "I don't know... won't that like, get us in trouble?"

"But a little trouble is fun. Winter break is in like 2 days, what are they going to do? Suspend us for getting lunch?"

I'm more worried about what my mom will do but thanks.

She senses my worry and puts her hand on my shoulder, "I don't want to pressure you, I just want you to have some fun before we graduate in like a few months," she assured.

What can go wrong, right?

"Okay." I agree, her eyes widen slightly, "okay?"

"Yeah. like you said, what are they going to do? Suspend us?"
