Lily's POV
The house felt colder when she left, like the temperature physically dropped. It felt so normal to have her here- to have her with me.
I didn't have to deal with the loneliness for long though.
"Lilith? Get my bags!" I hear my mom yell, even though I'm sitting in the kitchen and can see her clearly. I don't reply, just pick up her bags and transport them into her room. Leaving her with the one in her hand. I'd like to avoid an argument, especially if I want to convince her to either leave or let her over.
"How was it?" I ask.
"It was business, why do you care all of the sudden."
I can feel she doesn't want me here, but I know I won't get the courage to ask anything later. I hover in the corner of the room, hoping she doesn't find something random to wine about.
"Uh, Mother?" I stutter out, the chances this is the wrong time and I'm fucked is giant but a girl can dream right.
"What." she replies bluntly, turning around from her bag and looking at me. "Spit it out, I have to unpack."
"Can- can my school friend come over?" she blinks at me before rolling her eyes, turning back to her bag.
"I'm not having a single person over when I just got home. Stop asking."
I tap my foot anxiously on the floor, "can i go over there then?"
She drops whatever object in her hand and snaps her head to face me. "Whatever gets you to leave me the hell alone."
I can tell a fight would be so easy to sir up right about now, so I turn around and go to my room. Avoiding everything and taking the small win she gave me.

"What's your room number?" I ask quickly. I am standing in front of Emerald Apex Hotel, the closest one to me so I assume it's the one she's staying at. "What?" I roll my eyes, she sounds like she was taking a nap but I'd rather not stand outside.
"You're staying at Emerald Apex Hotel right?"
"Yeah?"
"Okay then sleeping beauty, please provide a room number so I'm not standing outside like a dumbass."
"Uhm okay- room 210." I nod to myself and hang up. I see a lady reading at a desk but when I turn towards the halfway instead of her, she goes back to her book. I search through the hallways trying to find her room number.
207...208..
I keep following the numbers in order until I reach Rea's. I knock on the door and she opens it maybe a second later, a look of slight shock and enjoyment on her face. "Eager are we?" I tease before stepping inside. The bed is messy which confirms my idea of her taking a nap, one of the bags is unpacked, but the others are just slightly open. "Sorry for the mess. I didn't plan for you to stop by just yet."
I shake my head reassuringly, sitting on her bed. "I don't care, and speaking of me stopping by, I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time in this hotel room."
She sits down beside me, concern clear on her face. "Your mom again?" I huff and fall backward, into the pile of heavenly-soft bedding. "You know it."
"Since you woke me up do you want to finish that nap? It can help get the negative energy away."
I think about it for a second, I'm not necessarily tired but I can try. I nod up to her, she smiles before getting up and walking around the bed. She puts her hand out to me, "give me your phone."
I look at her confused but take it from my pocket and hand it to her, taking this time to shuffle towards the pillow. She plugs my phone in and I hear it being sat on the table. She walks to the bottom of the bed, grabbing the blanket to flatten it out and lay it over me. "I turned on your sound so you don't miss a call from your mom."
"You're a genius."
"I've been aware of that for a while." she chuckles before shuffling into the bed next to me. The room still has light from the window, but I don't think either of us mind. It's slightly comforting, it's so dim from the curtains but it's still there. I turn to face Rea, draping my arm over her and laying my head on her chest, letting out a satisfied hum. She stiffens for a second before relaxing. I listen to her breathing even until I'm sure she's sleeping.
She's such an amazing friend.

Rea's POV
A significant amount of time has passed, the light outside dimmer than when I last saw it. Lily is fast asleep on my chest, her breathing soft. I don't move, not risking waking such a peaceful creature. My heart beats a second faster, goosebumps running over every inch of my skin. It's like fire when she's so close. It feels wrong to feel that way about her while she's clueless, but I can't help it.
I had tried falling back asleep, but from the great sleep last night and the estimated 3-hour nap I just took, it's useless. I stared at the hotel ceiling. I liked this place, I think. It's homey, closed away, somewhere I feel comfortable hiding when I'm not with Lily, or even when I am.
The soft tick of the analog clock on the wall rings through the room. I subconsciously count the ticks, tapping my foot to each one. Lily hums, cuddling closer into my side. My heart flutters, having her so close is a luxury I didn't think I would get. Her soft snores make me smile, I look down at her face, there's a small crease between her brows, making them slightly furrowed. I take my thumb and flatten it out until she looks completely at ease. Once the crease is gone she looks like she doesn't worry about a single thing in the world.
I like that look on her, I want her to have it more often.
