Rea's POV

That call scared me.

I've known Lily for while so I know her school restrictions but when I got that call I knew something was up. She would never risk it just to call me.

I don't even know that girl that called her that horrific name but I hate her. Lily shouldn't have to be put through her past again. That girl is so strong, it makes me sick to think about what happened to her. And to top it off her mom still treats her terribly. I can't wait to get her out of there.

I can say a lot of my worry is because over the time I have known her I have fallen in love with her, she obviously doesn't know, but could you blame me? Her past is messed but she's an amazing person. Her smile, her eyes. Oh her eyes, I could stare into them all day. And her laugh. It was like music to my ears. That girl has me wrapped around her finger and doesn't even know.

"Hey- Cunning- are you good?" My friend probably figured out I was zoned out.

"Why can't you just call me Rea like everyone else?" I look back at her and meet her light brown eyes, and lift my brow.

"I don't want to be boring." her smug expression annoys me but makes me crack a smile.

"Hm, so my nickname is boring now huh?"

"I mean kind of-" she starts to talk but the teacher cuts her off.

"Cunning and Rose! Will you please pay attention to the lesson. If you don't you will fail the exam. This is an important lesson" she turns back to the board but I just roll my eyes and lean over to her.

"So you think my name is boring? Says the one whose name is Hannah." I whisper to her in a volume the teacher hopefully couldn't hear.

"Hey leave my name out of thi-"

"Girls! One more word and your getting detention."

"Buzzkill." Hannah and I say this at the same time which makes us both smile. Her beautiful dark skin makes her white teeth stand out.

We end up paying attention to the lesson because avoiding detention was the main goal and since that was my last hour, once the bell rang I wanted to get home as soon as possible.

My mom brought me to school today so I had to search for her car. Once I found it I smiled and started to run there. My mom was a great soul. We were super close and she was like my best friend. I wish Lily had that. Wow, all I think about is her.

"Hey baby how was school?" my mom's soft voice welcomed me as soon as I stepped into the car.

"It was good, I got a call from Lily that worried me but other than that pretty good." oh yeah, my mom knew about lily, since we were so close I told her about everything, well except things Lily didn't want anyone but me to know. Lily and my mom talked on facetime at least once a week because my mom simply loves her. She also knows I'm in love with her, but that's our little secret.

"Oh no is she okay?" she sounded worried as she started up the car to head home.

"She wasn't then but I think she's better now." I put on a reassuring smile and look back at my phone.

3:32 PM

I think a good thing about my and Lily's friendship is we live in the same time zone, and end school at the same time.

"Hey, how are you?"

I send a quick text to Lily and put my phone back down, I worry about her, and I know getting out of school for her is just a small good thing, up until she gets home. I hate her mom, before I met her I didn't hate many people, but she showed me the sad part of life that's not all good and happy. It's dark. I was lucky enough to get an amazing mom but Lily wasn't.
