Rea's POV

My brain is running on pure happiness, sounds cheesy but it is.

My mom got home about an hour after I hung up with Lily and found out we're going to college together. I had just sat and waited for her to call before that.

Tom is with her, they're laughing and she's in a nice dress, it looks like they went to dinner.

"Did you have fun?" I ask, smiling at her.

She comes in to hug me when she sees me sitting on the couch. "I did. Tom took me to a very nice restaurant."

He puts his hands up, "guilty."

"I'm really glad, was the food good?"

She smiles, "Yes absolutely, I tried to get him to spend less but he wouldn't listen. It was all fun in the end though."

"I already said it's worth it honey." He came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her torso, leaning his chin on her shoulder. She leans her head on his, and I think I might puke from how cute they are.

I rub my hands in my legs, clicking my tongue. "I have news."

My mom's ears perk and she looks at me. "I'm listening."

I picked up the letter, which I refolded while waiting on her, and gave it to her. She gives me a questioning look before reading it, her eyes widening within seconds. Her hand covers her mouth and she gasps. Suddenly she's running to hug me with a giant smile on her face. "Honey! Oh my god! This is so!"

She's rambling and holding me tight, all i can do is smile and be happy with her.

When my mom finally lets me breathe again, we see a very confused Tom staring at us. He clears his throat, looking at me questionably. "I'm guessing this is good, but why is your mother in tears?"

My mom laughs and swats his arm. "She got into college! The one near me! I talked about this!"

A look of realization takes over his face before he smiles and motions high-five me. "That's such a good kid. Very proud."

"Thanks, Tom,'' I say back. He walks into the kitchen and I bury my face in my mom's shoulder, sighing. "I'm so glad I won't be far away."

I can feel her nodding her head, hugging me closer. "Me too. How about Lily, did she get a letter yet?"

The topic brings a smile back onto my face. I've been waiting to tell her this as well. I look at her, nodding my head. "Yeah, she did. She got into Seattle University too."

My mom's face lights up, clapping her and smiling. "That's so amazing! For the both of you. Oh my god, I'm in shock."

"She also got a scholarship, and we talked about how it actually covers a decent amount, and she's applying for student loans."

"That's so good for her." Mom smiles, "it's been great to see her grow."

"I'm so happy about this whole thing mom." she looks at me like she knows, having such a proud look on her face I want to cry. "I know honey. Me too."
