"You want to do what?" Hendery exclaimed, eyes about to pop out of their sockets. "Are you insane?"

Lucas rubbed the back of his neck, understanding where Hendery was coming from. What he had just suggested wasn't exactly something he would have said a few weeks ago.

But as Lucas gave the girl leaning on the wall with her arms crossed, an "I told you so" look on her face, he knew he was making the right decision.

Lucas and Evie had spent a long night figuring out what their next steps were. Lucas knew he would be giving up everything he had ever worked for just to be with Evie, but at the same time, his heart told him that he had to do it. Evie was his soulmate and he couldn't let her go like that.

The two of them eventually came to an agreement, Evie giving in. Lucas could tell that the guilt was eating her alive, but she went with it for his sake, and he was thankful for that.

Now, they were telling the next person who needed to help them out, Hendery.

"That's exactly how I reacted." Evie said, pushing herself off the wall. Her heels clicked as she walked towards where the two men were seated, the couch of Hendery's apartment.

Hendery was from a pretty wealthy family, each of his sisters running their own business. Because of this, the male was lucky enough to have his own place, a place where Lucas often found himself.

Lucas had found it funny when Evie seemed to have hit a wall when she had tried to enter Hendery's home. Hendery found out right after that the girl wasn't human but a vampire, creatures that needed to be invited in.

It was clear that Hendery was hesistant but with a reasurring nod from Lucas, allowed the girl to enter. Lucas thought that Hendery wouldn't think too much about it but as his best friend moved away ever so slightly, it was clear that Evie's presence still scared him.

"It's fine, she won't hurt you." Lucas said, reaching out to pat Hendery's arm.

"Doesn't look like it." Hendery mumbled, unconvinced. Evie sighed and Lucas felt the cushions sink as she sat down beside him.

"What good is it to hurt my partner's best friend?" Evie asked. "Plus, we're here asking for your help, together."

"You're asking me to help you fake my best friend's death!" Hendery exclaimed, standing up. It was clear that he was frustrated, finding everything hard to believe. "And you want me to let him go ahead and drop everything he's ever worked for! For you? You're not even a wolf!"

Lucas heard Evie grit her teeth, her hands forming fists. He shot her a look, making the girl take a deep breath, before turning back to Hendery.

"I know it's a lot." Lucas said but Hendery wasn't buying it.

"A lot is an understatement." Hendery said, narrowing his eyes. "How can i just let you do this? Have you even thought about it?"

"For days." Lucas told him. "This wasn't an easy choice to make."

"Yeah well it's also a dumb choice to make." Hendery told him, sitting back down with his arms crossed over his chest. "I can't agree to this."

"Told you so." Evie mumbled and as much as Lucas loved the girl, he wished she kept her comments to herself. "Trust me Hendery, I think this is dumb too."

"See! Now if your girlfriend thinks you shouldn't do it, you probably shouldn't!" Hendery said, giving Lucas a look.

Lucas tried not to laugh as Evie stiffened at the word "girlfriend." The two hadn't madde anything offical yet, but it was clear that their feelings for each other were reciprocated.
