Evie gave Winwin one last pat before standing up, approaching the male staring at the two of them. "Nothing, turn away."

"There's a dead body, I can't just leave." The male responded, staring back into Evie's eyes.

Evie recognized the man from the morning Winwin had turned, the same man that had caught her. He was tall and muscular with model-like features, the absolute definition of handome. It was hard for her not to be nervous in his presence, and she was glad she had no pulse because if she did, it would be through the roof.

Evie could tell the male was checking her out to, eyeing her from head to toe. She swallowed before taking a step forward, so she was right in his face.

"I told you, there's nothing to see. Turn around and go back." Evie said, trying to compel him. She soon learned that it didn't work.

The male simply tilted his head, eyes still locked with hers. "What are you?"

Evie blinked a few times in disbelief as she stared back at him. "I can ask you the same thing."

As if she was in a trance, Evie couldn't help but bring a hand up to trace the males features, feeling an unexplainable pull towards him. She was expecting the man to smack her hand away, but he didn't, letting her softly trace his jawline.

It feels like...

"Evie?"

Evie brought her hand down as she turned towards Winwin, who seemed nervous to see the male. Surprisingly, the man didn't scream or try to hurt them as he focused on the dead body, walking towards it.

"You should probably dispose this." The man told them, bending down and checking the pulse. Evie bit her lip, holding her hand.

There's something about him.

"Should we just bury her?" Winwin asked, running towards where the man was. Evie watched as he inspected the bite marks on the neck before glancing at them.

"No, there's a lake not far from here. I'll show you." The man said before effortlessly scooping the body up.

Everything he does is so effortless, Evie thought as the man began to walk, Winwin following him.

At least Winwin was until he stopped, waving at Evie. "Evie?"

Evie blinked out of it before quickly catching up with the two. "Sorry."

"You seem out of it." Winwin said as the three of them threaded through the trees, following the mysterious man.

"I'm tired." Evie lied, staring at the man's back. He's much stronger than a regular human and can't be compelled. But he's not a vampire, I can hear his heart beating.

"I thought vampires don't get-"

This made the man stop and Evie mentally cursed as Winwin realized she had just exposed them.

"Evie, I'm so sorry." Winwin whispered, hands covering her mouth. "Do we need to kill him now?"

"There's no need." The man said, continuing to walk again. "I'm helping you get rid of this body, don't forget that."

Winwin gave Evie a look and she simply shrugged.

"Let's just see what he's up to." Evie said, deciding to follow the male.

...

It wasn't Lucas's first time disposing a body.

Humans always ended up dead when a wolf shifts for the first time, unaware of the strength and unnatural powers they had. That was why humans avoided this forest, unless they were hoping to die.
