Lucas's mother had told him legends of the table crafted by the wood of the Eternal Tree when he was younger, but he couldn't recall the exact details. All he knew was that the tree was a huge magic source, more powerful than the oldest warlock.

"Okay, here we go." Mark said, rubbing his hands together as he stared at the sheet of paper beside the open book, which Lucas assumed contained the translated version.

Lucas watched along with Evie and Jungwoo as Mark concentrated his magic into the table and a few seconds later, it sprang to life.

The table began to glow before images appeared, giving them a history lesson that they didn't know that they needed.

"There was a time where supernaturals lived in harmony with humans." Jungwoo told them, leaning against the wall as they watched the different supernaturals interact. "The humans would provide for them while the night creatures would protect them. That was before vampires came to be though."

"Vampires?" Evie asked, turning back to Jungwoo. The male nodded, motioning back to the table.

"Watch."

Lucas watched as a woman moved towards a huge tree located in the middle of land. It was as if Lucas was there himself, hearing the words leave the woman's mouth.

"Dear spirit of the Eternal Tree. I would like to use your magic to give my son his life again." The woman begged, head bowed as she knelt at the roots of the tree. "He is ill and the village doctors says that he does not have many days to live."

Judging by how quiet everyone else was, Lucas assumed they could hear the voice as well.

He watched as a man appeared in front of the woman, glowing with such force that made it clear that he was the spirit of the Eternal Tree.

"Your son is not a good person." The spirit told the woman. "He has caused pain to the people around him."

"But for him to die of a disease, that is unfair!" The woman argued. "Please, give him immorality, his heart is pure."

"I cannot." The spirit said, fading away. But before it did, the woman's eyes turned dark as she took a knife out, shoving it into the heart of the spirit.

The spirit's eyes widened as his human form fell limp. The woman took out a cloth, gently absorbing the spirit's blood.

The images shifted and they watched as the woman wrung the cloth, the spirits blood emptying into a cup of cranberry juice. The woman entered the room with an ill boy lying in bed, eyes barely opened.

"My son, I'm here." The woman said but the boy ignored her. "I know you're awake."

"Just leave." The boy mumbled. "I just want to die already."

The woman sighed, sitting down beside her son. "I know it's hard, but please, hang in there. You can do it."

"Why should I?" The boy cried, finally opening his eyes as tears rolled down his cheek. "I killed to help my best friend become the next alpha, there is not a drop of good blood in me!"

Lucas tried not to cry as he watched the woman's heart break at the words her son said.

"It's hard, I know." The woman cooed, gently wiping her son's tears. "Here, I made you some juice. Just drink it and go back to sleep. You'll feel better afterwards."

The boy was hesistant but nodding his head, drinking the juice tainted with the spirit's blood. The woman seemed satisfied as her son gave the cup back to her, getting up to leave the room.
