Evie was running around the forest, desperately trying to something that she could recognize but she couldn't. Her hands and feet felt like paws and her vision had dropped to ground level, her body feeling like it was on fire.

What is happening to me?

Suddenly, something rammed into her side, sending her rolling across the ground. When she opened her eyes again, she was staring into the yellow eyes of another wolf, a wolf with a familiar scent.

Lucas!

Lucas rubbed his snout into her neck, his scent comforting her.

Are you alright? Do you know how to change back?

Evie's eyes widened as she turned towards the male. Are you... in my head?

This is how mates communicate, Lucas told her. But only in wolf form.

Evie looked down and sure enough, her hands were not hands but paws, her coat a clean silver. What happened?

Hey, focus on me. Evie felt Lucas rubbed her fur coat again, grabbing her attention. Just think about yourself in human form.

Vampire form, Evie corrected. Oh my gosh, am I really a hybrid?

She felt another shove, not as aggressive as the first but not as soft as his head rubs either. Is now really the time to think about that?!

"Should we shoot her?" What?!

Evie tensed as she heard Jungwoo's voice but Lucas immediately changed back into his human form. "Don't."

"She's still a wolf though." Mark pointed out, joining them. "We can give her a drug that turns her back."

"She can change by herself, just give us time." Lucas said, shooting them a deathly look.

Evie was tempted to run back into the forest for cover, her body basically screaming at her. But when Lucas turned back around, his eyes soft, she stayed there, her body pulling her back to her mate.

"You can do this." Lucas said, sitting down despite the fact the ground was covered in snow. He reached his hand out, making Evie recall when she first got to know the male.

Evie naturally placed herself under Lucas's hand, the male laughing as he softly pet her head, a soothing feeling for the girl. "You like this, don't you?"

Evie gave him a slight nod, a smile on his face. She decided to jump into his lap, but she used a bit too much force, and Lucas ended up lying down in the snow, Evie on top of him in her wolf form.

Lucas seemed happy though as he hugged the wolf, gently running his fingers through his fur. "You're right, wolf fur is very soft."

Evie heard Mark clear his throat and remembered that they weren't alone. She quickly got off Lucas, staring at him as he sat up.

"Just think about your human form." Lucas told her, staring into her eyes. "Imagine yourself transforming back."

Evie inhaled a deep breath, closing her eyes, doing exactly as Lucas had instructed.

...

Evie was beautiful. Her wolf form had the prettiest fur coat that Lucas had ever witness, and her lovely scent was now stronger than ever.

Lucas quickly reached out as Evie transformed back into her human form, her body shaking ever so slightly. Her clothes were ripped, dirty, and damp, so Lucas immediately took off his jacket, covering her.
