Lucas was giddy. And he was rarely giddy.
The kiss with Evie had his head spinning, desperately wanting it to never end. He wanted to hold her in his arms forever, be there for her forever, and wanted her to be his forever.
He had a huge smile on his face the entire way back home, humming to himself the entire way home.
Even though he had to leave her side, Lucas knew he could see her again, and that was more than enough to keep him happy.
Lucas was very much convinced that what Kun had said wasn't true, his own experiences only confirming it. Evie was like a dream come true to him, and Lucas knew that now one else could make him feel the same way.
She has to be my mate, Lucas thought to himself as he caught sight of his best friend in the alleyway beside his family's restaurant. She's so perfect for me in every way, there's no way that she's not.
"So who was that?" Hendery asked, arms crossed as he leaned against the brick wall. "The Lucas I know is never this happy."
"I think I found my mate." Lucas confessed. "She's just perfect."
"Ey, that's my bestie." Hendery replied, his smile widening as they did their handshake. "She seems good for you."
"She is." Lucas told him. "I can't imagine spending my days with someone else."
"Who is she though?" Hendery asked, stepping back. "I've never seen her before, meaning she's not a Neo City native nor is she a wolf that your father brought in."
Hendery's comment made Lucas's smile fade, as the reality of it all hit him. "She's not a wolf."
"Wait what?" Hendery exclaimed, shocked. "You have a mate that's not a wolf?!"
Lucas covered his Hendery's mouth, worried that someone else would hear. "Could you be any louder?"
"Sorry." Hendery whispered as soon as Lucas removed his hand. "But are you sure she isn't a wolf that hasn't triggered the gene."
Lucas sighed, beginning to get frustrated again. "She's not."
Lucas could tell that Hendery was beginning to get worried but didn't show it, plastering a fake smile and shrugged. "Well, love is love. Can't do anything about that."
"I'm worried though." Lucas admitted. "I can't be the next alpha if I decide to be with her."
"Then I guess you have some decisions to make." Hendery said, giving Lucas's shoulder a pat. "But not now, we need to get this club thing planned."
Lucas chuckled at Hendery's eagerness. "Do you really like Sylvia that much?"
"You have no right to say anything when you look at Evie with lovey dovey eyes." Hendery snickered, making Lucas roll his eyes.
"Whatever."
Lucas felt a nudge and turned towards Hendery. "So is Evie coming."
Lucas nodded his head and Hendery pumped his fists in the air.
Even though Lucas didn't show it, he was just as excited as Hendery was.
