The environment was dark as the coverage seemed to shield the two from the lava beneath them.

"We could easily end this rivalry right now."

The other stayed quiet. It was true, there was no denying it. As they watched the two unconscious boys fall together, he had to admit it was somewhat poetic. And yet, despite his grievances towards them, he had ulterior movies and strict instructions from his superior.

"Patience Mumbo. Have resistance. The plan is still set in place. It may have been procrastinated, but we've got the advantage."

Nothing he stated was a lie, but it also wasn't the true reason. Lying to one of his closest friends was dangerous but there was also nothing to be done about it. He couldn't kill the two of them yet, but what they'd just observed solidified their future objectives.

"Are you sure?"

"For now, our only intention is to watch."

Down below, rushed yells echoed off the cave walls.

"Karl, over here hurry!"

The clacking of shoes matched with the gasps as the notified pair noticed the two unmoving bodies littered on the ground.

"No, no, no, no, no," in a drastic movement Karl was on the verge of tears, "They can't be dead, right Sapnap? Tell me they're not dead!"

Sapnap checked their pulses which revealed that the two were both alive.

The downfall? Dream's were becoming shallower by the minute. For the moment, knowing that George was breathing fine, he decided to ignore the brunette.

"Karl, I need splash potions and bandages."

The two of them had gotten there as quickly as possible. After getting the other wither skull they were set on getting, along with Sam's group retrieving the other, Karl and Sapnap had already planned on searching for the two. They'd been lucky. Sapnap had to believe that they'd gotten there on time. Idealistically, they'd be able to save both George and Dream.

Karl splashed a regeneration potion on the two.

"That'll help with the body's healing right?"

"It should speed up the clotting process."

Sapnap ducked in a breath as he took the offered bandages and took off the cloth wrapped around Dream's wound.

"It looks like George was trying to keep pressure on the wound and then asked for the help."

"How do you know the timeline?" Karl asked as he tried to figure out why George had clasped.

"There's stained blood on his hand and Dream's watch."

Karl reached towards the bottom of his bag. When the item he'd thought of wasn't there, he reached for George's bag which was sprawled across the ground.

"Wait here, will this help?"

Looking up from the cloth he was greeted with a bottle of hydrogen peroxide.

Sapnap was hesitant to accept. Hydrogen peroxide was a dangerous game. While it kills harmful bacteria that would lead to infection, it also kills the beneficial bacteria needed for healing purposes. However, with the size of the wound, water would not be substantial enough, especially with how hot it'd be with the nether temperature. And with the regeneration potion, Sapnap was a little more lenient to use hydrogen peroxide.

"This would've hurt like a bitch if he were awake," the boy whispered to himself.

Grabbing the bottle, Sapnap untied his bandana and allowed the liquid to absorb it. By now, the bleeding had stopped for the majority, due to the potion, and Sapnap carefully cleaned the outside of the wound. It wasn't the best medical attention, and he wished he could administer a blood transfusion, but being within the nether made it rather difficult.

Beside him, as he started to wrap a sterile bandage around his arm, he could see Karl become visibly worried.

"H-he's not waking up."

After securing the bandages with paper tape, Sapnap placed his hand upon the other's shoulder.

"Karl, look at me."

When they'd made eye contact, Sapnap continued.

"I know you are worried, I'm afraid as well, but we can't panic. I don't know why George wouldn't be waking up when he's breathing fine. He could even be in a coma, but that doesn't change anything. We have to get them out of here."

"You're right."

Karl gave one last glance over George before he observed the surrounding area. They had to be fighting someone, and that's when he found it.

"Sapnap, there's items over here."

The other walked over, noticing a spare, red-eye along with a piece of paper filled with mysterious words.

"This must be drops from the monster they were fighting."

Karl pocketed the items and the two returned to the injured duo.

"Everyone else should be coming soon, but Dream still isn't in the clear. He's lost a lot of blood, and one wrong move could be his death."

"We should get out of here as fast as possible."

"If we're lucky," Sapnap hoped as he gently picked up the blonde, "There may be a log structure in the overworld that can keep him warm."

"I hadn't even thought of the struggles with temperature."

Karl carried the other within his arms.

"Let's go."

As they swiftly exited the cave, two others remained somewhere above.

"The four of them must have a strong bond."

"And we'll exploit it," the unknown male responded, "When the time comes."

A hero is nothing without the people they surround themselves with. And without those people, what do they have left. Only loneliness will greet them in the cold mornings. Even sooner than that: death.

While he'd been shocked at the appearance of the other, primarily because he didn't think his superiors would enter both of them so soon, he realized how easily the plan could be modified. With the goal of observing, tormenting, readying, and strengthening the prime subject, he already knew how to move forward.

"Come on, Mumbo," he gave a dry chuckle, "We have much to do."

A/N: Yes I'm a hermitcraft fan, what about it? I'm not sure how many of my readers watch hc or if they're specifically dsmp fans. Also if you do want to start watching hermitcraft, I usually watch Mumbo, Grian, Scar, or Bdubs (as you can see I am definitely the builder in minecraft lmao) but they're all really good :]
