"Hey, George?" His roommate asked while putting a thin black sweatshirt over his white collared shirt.
"Yeah?" The other responded as he adjusted his armor. As planned, the new team of four was going to gain more resources to prepare for the long journey tomorrow. After much discussion, both George and Karl would accompany the small team that was created. While they were new to combat, especially Karl, Dream figured it would be crucial for their learning. Mainly so that they'd be able to see the nether, but also because he knew that the two were much more important for their unknown future.
"Do you think we got along in the past?" Karl questioned.
George turned to the taller person, "Yeah. I mean you gave me these goggles." He pointed to the item. A day had passed since Karl was bunking with George and they'd had multiple conversations about the one memory the smaller boy had recalled.
Karl looked over the objects that he himself had, "You didn't give me anything," he jokingly frowned, "That's honked up."
"Well," George thought, searching for something he'd done within his spare time. Once he found it, he asked for Karl's wrist. "When I get bored or anxious, I've recently started making bracelets. I guess it calms me down." The brunette continued to tie the string around his friend's wrist.
Karl looked up at George. Even if he also couldn't remember, he was glad that George was in his past life. He was almost certain now that they'd gotten along. For someone as bright as George, there was no way they hadn't been best friends.
"Thank you."
"Of course," George gave a small smile before reminding the other boy that they did indeed have somewhere to be.
When they stepped out of their room, they noticed that both Sapnap and Dream, who were also roommates, stood outside their dorm as they waited for the two others.
"Finally," Dream complained, "You're worse than my sister."
"You have a sister?" George asked as the group made their way through Sam's redstone doors. By now, Sapnap and Karl were leading the way together, leaving both George and Dream a few feet behind them.
"Yeah," Dream answered, a slightly sad tone in his voice.
"You miss her, don't you?"
There was a small silence between the two before Dream answered with a sigh, "I'm just glad she's not here."
"Is she in paradise already?"
"Yeah"
"Then when we get there you can introduce me to her."
"Okay, as long as you tell me everything about you when you remember."
George took the moment to recollect his thoughts as he listed the things he knew about himself, "I like pancakes."
"Oh?" Dream asked, laughing at how spontaneous the statement was, "Me too."
"I think I was reading Harry Potter in my memory."
"You're probably a Ravenclaw."
"Really, why?" George asked, curious.
"You're witty and clever," Dream continued once he realized George was lost, "You spent hours learning about redstone even after I warned that it was difficult,"
"What about me?" Sapnap asked after overhearing their conversation.
"You wouldn't even make it into Hogwarts," George laughed as Karl pretended to be shocked by the other's actions.
"George, you're going feral!" Karl hyped.
The more they talked about the topic, the more George started to remember about the books, "I think you're a Gryffindor. Aren't they courageous and determined?'
"Yeah. He definitely gives off those vibes," Karl added.
Dream laughed, realizing the truth of their decision, "When we first went into the nether for the first part of our mission, he was so determined to go in despite the fact that we were right near a fortress and wither skeletons were swarming the area."
Sapnap rolled his eyes, "Not my fault you were too scared to enter."
"Says the one who was screaming when you realized the number of withers that were running after us."
"Whatever," Sapnap said, turning back around to continue his conversation with Karl.
"I think I like the color green," George added.
"You seem to like my coat too," Dream teased.
"Yours? It's mine now," He claimed, making the other laugh.
By now, they'd walked a good distance. They were planning on mining for ores, mainly redstone per Sam's request.
"I like being around you."
"What?!" Dream blurted out, choking over his own wheeze. He hadn't expected something so forward. He was thankful for his mask which covered the light blush that dusted his freckles.
"George," Sapnap called from the front, "That was smooth."
"Wha- No!" George protested once he realized how they'd interpreted his words, "I didn't mean it like that."
"Dream's going dark," Kark laughed.
"Don't hit me up, only the real ones know."
They stumbled across a deep cave that looked promising enough, brushing off their laughter.
"Okay, we'll split into groups."
"Dream just wants to be alone with me," George joked. Dream didn't like the fact that he had become so bold when it came to his teasing. He decided to ignore the brunette's comment.
"Always stay with your partner even if you have the area lit up because there is a chance monsters will still spawn," Dream instructed.
"And be careful around lava," Sapnap reminded the group.
They split into their respective groups, searching for any ore in sight. George found that coal was the easiest to find higher up, which made sense when he thought about it.
"George!" Dream yelled, grabbing the attention of his friend. In a panic, he quickly ran for the blonde. What never crossed his mind was the fact that Dream was highly skilled and probably wouldn't need assistance for a flimsy mob. When he turned the corner, an arm snaked around his waist, pulling back into a different direction.
"What!" He yelled before realizing who it was. Beneath his mask, Dream was smirking.
"Maybe I do just want to be alone with you." Dream's voice was serious as his mask's gaze bored into the brunette.
George was completely flustered. Even if the cave was becoming colder as the two adventured further down, the small section of the stoned environment felt extremely warm.
"I can be bold too." Dream smirked at the blush on the boy's face before letting him go and walking off into the distance, leaving George alone to collect himself. He wasn't sure how to gather himself because he couldn't even process what had happened.
