"What the honk?!" Karl yelled. Sapnap had snuck behind him during their practice fighting, making both him and George vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy team. Both Dream and Sapnap were smirking. They knew they'd already won even without Dream's full fighting potential. At least, that's what they thought.

"Sorry George," Sapnap faked an apology, "You just can't beat the original Dream Team Duo."

Kark advanced, his purple chosen sword in hand. He was giggling, a laugh that was entirely contagious.

"No, I think I can," George countered, using Karl's movements to his advantage. He shot, hitting the armor which protected Sapnap's chest. It was extra thick and had mending for training purposes. The practice itself was like paintball, you land a hit on your target and they're out.

Both George and Karl celebrated. Through the multiple times they'd now been teamed and started practicing, they'd never once gotten either of the members on the opposing team out. This showed how well they were adapting and strengthening their skills.

"Don't forget about me, George. That makes me sad," Dream laughed, hitting Karl's armor with a spare axe. George sighed, frowning as he watched his teammate struggle against Dream. It had only been a day since Karl's recruitment and although he had gotten some training from Sapnap, he still was far from perfect.

Dream finished off the round with a win, quickly gaining an advantage as he sliced at the armor from behind.

"You think you know the guy," Karl jokingly scoffed as the two made their way towards a stray tree for shade.

"What'd you just say?" Dream asked, his eyebrows positioned in a questioning manner that was covered by his mask.

"You think you know the guy?" Kark repeated, unsure of its significance.

"Oh you two have definitely spent time together before," Dream said, laughing.

"What?" The question came from the shortest of the group.

"You always say that."

"Didn't know George's words were always on your mind," Sapnap teased, smirking as the one mentioned rolled his eyes.

"Oh, come on."

"Where?" Sapnap asked, smirking.

"What!" Dream yelled through a wheeze, taken aback.

They continued training, strengthening Karl's ability with a sword. The rounds went on as expected, Sapnap and Dream's abilities largely outweighed the others, but the experience they were gaining was much more valuable than a victory.

"Let's go get Karl armor," Sapnap suggested once they finished.

"Well," George considered, "I think I might go find Sam and ask him about redstone."

Dream lips curled into a smile. As the days passed, he watched George become more and more confident. At first, he wouldn't go anywhere without him or Sapnap and now, he was deciding to venture off without the group. Dream wasn't sure in the beginning, but he could vaguely tell George had underlying leadership skills. It showed a lot about his forgotten events. For whatever reason, he used those skills and strengthened them.

The three others gave a nod.

"Okay. When we meet up later, we'll figure out Karl's sleeping arrangements," Dream said.

After parting ways, George made his way towards Sam's small redstone room. He hummed along the way, excited for the chance to learn. He gave a quiet knock on the opened door to signal his presence.

"Oh, hey George!" Sam greeted.

"Hello." The brunette walked in, observing the redstone in awe.

"Do you need anything?" He asked, putting down his complex machine and walking over to George.

"Not really. I was wondering if you could teach me about redstone. Dream said it's challenging to understand but seeing all of the cool things you've done to improve the base makes me think it's worth it."

"Wait, really?" Sam asked, surprised by the other's interest, "No one else really cares to know about this stuff."

"Yeah," he said, shrugging his shoulders at the mention of everyone's unwillingness to learn redstone.

"What do you want to use it for?" Sam listed the opportunities, "Fighting, traps, or advanced machines?"

"Mainly for fighting, but that would include traps as well, right?"

"Yeah," Sam agreed, walking towards his table and ushering George to follow. He grabbed a container from the shelf which was positioned on the table above. Once he took off the lid, George noticed the crimson substance. It was called redstone for a reason.

"The best way I can put this is that redstone is like gasoline."

"Oh?"

"Basically, if you put a trail of gas from whatever you want to set ablaze, it's all connected in some way. When you light it on fire, using some energy source or switch, the gas carries that fire to its destination," Sam explained, "Redstone is like the wires for an electrical unit. It carries that signal through and causes a pre-set reaction."

"That's really cool. You can do so much with that."

"And that's exactly why I enjoy making redstone contraptions so much. There are almost endless possibilities. You want to make a mechanical door? Redstone. Want to create some traps? Redstone." Sam's face lit up when talking about the uses of redstone. It was clear how much he appreciated the material.

"How would I use it in fighting?"

"You could probably wire up some redstone with TNT. I heard you're an archer?" He asked.

"Yeah."

"That's perfect. If you set that up beforehand, you can shoot either a button and set it off from far away or you could even just place some TNT and shoot it."

"Really?"

Sam responded with a nod, "There are also some traps you could use but those are more advanced and take up a lot of time."

"When can I start?"

"After I teach you, a good learning experience could be to make a reward system for your aiming practice."

George gave a confused look.

"With the targets, you could use redstone to fire off, I don't know, fireworks or some other objects so you'll know when you hit the middle exactly while also getting an item for your success."

"That's so smart," the brunette complimented.

The two continued their conversation, going deeper into the uses of redstone and how to set it up. During the time, George had watched Sam example a basic setup. The more he watched the demonstration, the more he wanted to set something up himself.

Once the two of them realized the late time, George left. After a brisk walk to his room, he entered quietly. Karl was sleeping on the top bunk. Although he'd missed the time to settle the arrangements for Karl's placement, he didn't mind the place they'd decided on. Who knew? Maybe if they spent more time together, they'd be able to remember more.

George settles into his bed, staring at the wooden boards above him. He wanted to think about everything that was going on. He needed time to process his situation. However, tired from the training and the addition of important redstone knowledge, he swiftly fell asleep. The only sounds that filled the room were the soft exhale from both boys as they drifted into a comfortable sleep.
