"Call me teacher Y/N for today.", you said strictly. The eyeglasses perched on your nose made you look more formal in a way, but not even a minute had passed, your serious demeanor instantly dropped—not used to being too formal around them. They all blankly stared at you, before the room was filled with laughter. The straight face you were trying so hard to maintain cracked, your laugh smoothly blending in with theirs.
During tour is when your teaching skills come in handy. As part of the requirements for this job, you needed to be fluent in the English language. You hadn't really known the importance and use of it nor do you know when you might actually be needing it... well, until now.
Back in Seoul, there are in-house professional licensed teachers who tutor all idols and trainees under the company. Usually, while still undergoing training, the trainees would have specific allotted time on their schedules for their academics, which mostly focused on languages since they'd be using that to promote when they finally debut. Once they become idols, since promotions are back-to-back and schedules start being hectic, these sessions are already reduced sometimes even none depending on their popularity. Often, they only seek the instructor's help when really needed.
For BTS' case, they are no longer required to attend such classes since they don't have all the time in the world, and are already capable of doing it on their own, but they could still meet up with an instruction whenever they want to.
Foreign languages are only often used when there are events outside the country or when on tour, so before such are the only times they would tap a teacher. But since they had just gotten out of their vacation and immediately proceeded to prepare for the tour, they hadn't had any opportunity to squeeze in a few lessons before leaving for the states.
Since this is already a frequent occurrence, the members are already used to doing it on their own or relying on Namjoon. Given that the actual tour is already stressful enough, the leader shouldn't be burdened by this too, seeing how he already carries a huge responsibility of leading one of the most famous groups in the world. Wanting to take this off of the leader's shoulder, PDnim specifically asked to put this requirement when hiring for their personal staff—this would really be useful since they'd been having a lot of western appearances lately.
So when you met up with the CEO, he also handed you the responsibility of being in charge of lessons while on tour. Bringing you to where you were... pretending to be their teacher.
After a fit of laughter (and Jimin falling out of his seat), everyone somehow quieted down already. "Ok, remind me not to do that again.", you pleaded while wiping away your happy tears.
"What? It's cute.", Yoongi teased, making the others jokingly call you teacher Y/N.
"More like cringy", you retaliated, pairing it with a nose scrunch.
"More like kinky", Jimin retorted back. Who, by the way, said it in all seriousness—any hint of laughter now long gone.
He was staring at you with a smirk playing on his lips. "Oh really, Mr. Park?", you challenged, now staring back at him with the same intensity. His eyes lit up as if you provoked something in him when you called him that. Kink unlocked, maybe?
The temperature in the room seemed to have risen up a bit as you followed Jimin's movements. His tongue glided from one corner of his lips to the other, before capturing his plump lip between his teeth. He's tempting you, and you gotta admit it's working.
If not for Seokjin suddenly banging his hand onto the table, you're probably on Jimin's lap by now. "Get a room, will you?", Seokjin chuckled, the other members taking notice of the growing sexual tension between you and Jimin, and so they began to snicker as well. "I'm still in need of my beauty rest, so manage your hormones after this lesson please."
You had to snap out of it before this could even escalate into something more, putting aside things and keeping your legs shut should do for now.
With a quick shake of head paired with a fake cough, you proceeded to sit down and decided to focus on the sole reason why you convened the members today. Since today was one of their few breaks, you didn't wanna hog their precious time that much. You opted to make this casual and chill as well, since again it wasn't like they were here for an actual formal class.
So, while you all feasted on the food, you started off with the basics just to refresh their memories.
Namjoon, who's basically already fluent in English, could've skipped this one but he still stayed, saying that "learning never stops", which of course emitted a few teasing 'oooh' from the others.
You started with greetings to correct usage of words. You also taught them simple questions and sentences they could use on a daily basis. Since they practically already know enough, there was not much left work to do.
So, you focused more on the spiels they'd be saying on the actual concerts. You all asked them to write what they want to tell their fans during concerts since in between intermission numbers, there is allotted time for them to interact with the audience, and also to thank them for coming to see them perform. Some members had managed to formulate sentences in complete correct English, the others still needed your help in translating a few lines since the sentences (in Korean) were a bit complex and would not really make sense if it were translated literally (word per word). After altering some of it, you also assisted them with the pronunciation and how to deliver it properly so they could convey the message that they really want to tell the fans.
Before letting them go, you had one last activity where you say a Korean phrase or sentence and they translate it, or vice versa—just a sort of ticket for them to be able to exit the room.
Aside from innocent mistakes like Yoongi saying "infires" instead of "inspire" (followed by the maknae proudly copying his hyung, making everyone laugh so hard), all in all, they're well prepared for the next few months. Though some of them still needed assistance, you could say that they're ready to go. You'd just have to conduct another session like this when the need arises.
Before exiting the room, they simultaneously said "Goodbye and thank you, teacher Y/N", with cute child-like voices as if they're elementary students dismissed for the day.
The short session was done for all except for one member.
What surprised you, though, was how slow Jimin was at picking up everything. All throughout the session, he seemed to be out of focus. Especially when you stand up to write keywords and a few examples on the board at the head of the table where you stood when you pretended to be their actual teacher.
One minute, he's following, the next he's distracted. You've known the man to be smart, so you're not quite sure why he's lagging today.
So after finishing the "tutorial" with the group, you asked Jimin if he wanted to stay behind and try some more. He admitted that he's indeed struggling today so he's down, he got no other thing planned for the rest of the day anyway so might as well just practice some more English.
Let's just hope that this time, he wouldn't be that distracted anymore.
