Chapter 14

Nanami drove us to a nearby hospital to treat my aunt's wounds. She had to stay for a bit longer than we expected because some of her injuries were quite serious. Instead of her letting me stay with her, she chased me away, telling me to get to safety. I couldn't argue with her so I left with Nanami, heading back to his place. While silently sitting in the passenger seat next to him, I couldn't help but recall what he had said before.
The things he did to find me? Was he worried about my disappearance so much?? Wait...he's worried about me?

I kept glancing over my shoulder looking at him while he drove. He seemed to have calmed down a little more than how he was before.
Why is he worried about me? Am i that important to him? I- this is confusing.

By the time i knew it we were at his place again. I got out of his car and went straight to taking a bath. I hadn't showered in 3 days....

It was the same situation again...I HADN'T ANY CLOTHES. I SWEAR FROM NOW ON I'LL BRING EXTRA CLOTHES OVER AND LEAVE THEM IN HIS HOUSE SEEING HOW I SOMEHOW ALWAYS END UP HERE. I took a deep breath and went downstairs. I was preparing to ask Nanami to borrow one of his clothes again but when i saw him he had a bag full of my clothes in his hand. He checked me out from head to toe before handing me the bag. God damnit why is this man leading me on!! I quickly grabbed the bag from him and spun around turning to the direction of the steps when I felt his hands on my hips again. It felt like my heart would beat out of my chest when I turned around to look at him. His brown eyes were staring directly into mine and his face was inches away from mine. For quite a while I was staring into his eyes but then my eyes fell on his lips. This brought a slight smirk to his face. I gulped when I realized that he was getting closer to my face. I could feel his warm breath brushing on my cheeks. My heart was beating so fast and i was so close to closing my eyes, waiting for some sort of thing to happen until we were interrupted by the sound of his phone ringing. He didn't once look at his phone but kept staring at me. I got extra close to him and whispered in his ear, "maybe next time," then left with a smirk plastered on my face, leaving him speechless.

I got dressed and headed down back downstairs for dinner. Nanami had made ordinary toasts for us to eat seeing how we ran out of groceries. While sitting there in the living room eating with him, I couldn't help but think about Ryu and how Nanami knew him so I decided to ask.

"So what's the deal with Ryu? Is he like working for you or something?" -Y/N

"Well....Ryu was my friend since in high school and he also had business with Mahito but he payed off his debt. He wasn't like those others, it's just that turning to those people were his last hope of saving his mom and thankfully she lived. After he official had finished his transactions, Ryu was going to exit the underground group but that's when Sukuna showed up. See, Ryu knew I had a strong bond with Sukuna so he told me about Sukuna joining and doing all sorts of things. That's how i found out." -Nanami

"So I guess Sukuna didn't know about Ryu before that's why Ryu was by Sukuna's side...." -Y/N

"Yup. That's pretty much it." -Nanami

"Oh btw will i get demoted from my place as secretary? I was gone for 3 days...So..." -Y/N

"You had a solid reason for your disappearance and it's not like you knew it would happen so you'll be excused." -Nanami

"Oh and we're leaving in 2 days. Remember the abroad business trip? I think you should definitely go because this will help with getting you off Sukuna's radar for a while." -Nanami

"Right. Right. But I'll need to go back home to get my stuff- what if Sukuna's there?" -Y/N

"Don't worry, Ryu took care of him for a while. He shouldn't be able to move with that wounded leg." -Nanami

I was tired from the eventful day that I went through. First i got kidnapped, almost died from falling off a bridge, almost witnessed the murder of my aunt and now basically fleeing for my wretched life. I left Nanami to do the dishes and I went up to bed. I was too tired for any more talking so I sat down on my bed and took out my phone, scrolling through the news. I saw the report of what had happened earlier and shockingly Ryu and Sukuna was on the wanted list. Ryu had fled the scene after he shot and killed 2 of Sukuna's men and injured Sukuna with a bullet to his left leg. Sukuna had barely made it out without getting caught and fled to some place unknown. Luckily there wasn't anything on Nanami or me as it lead to the crime scene so we were free from the hands of the press and police.

Thinking back about the first time i met Sukuna i realized that I recognized Ryu from among the guys who were trying to beat him up. He was there and so was the other 2 of his men. Wait- was that all a set up so that Sukuna could have some sort of contact with me? Did he fake getting bullied to get my attention? And what paper is he talking about?! Was he trying to get close to me to get that? There were so many unanswered questions lingering in my thoughts.

I cleared my mind and tried to help myself fall asleep but I couldn't. The moment when Nanami was so close to my face kept replaying over and over in my brain. It was hard for me to fall asleep while thinking about it. His face was so close to mine...and his eyes also focused on my lips.

What would have happened if his phone hadn't rung?~
