June 2015
I smile to a meal that I made for lunch today. Fragrance from two bowls of miso ramen starting to bring a smile to my face. I gulp softly, feeling hungry from the savoury fragrant.
It's been two years I've been taking care of the man. Time really doesn't know when to stop, and I'm still the same old ordinary person who seeks happiness.
Before today, I can imagine that I have successfully finish my music degree and start a job to help Eddy more. But it seems God have other plans.
As I garnish the miso ramen so beautifully, my ears caught a soft melody coming from outside the kitchen. I stop for a while, then glance to the kitchen door.
🎵 Countryside Living - Original Piece by me (it's in the media) 🎵
There he goes again. Doing some depressing piano practice. He's still doing it.
But, wait. Something's seems different. The piece. It's not the same old piece that he plays randomly all this time.
Isn't that...
I close the lunches with a movable food cover, then carefully walks to where the piano is. The melodies sounds crescendo as I take step by step, until I arrived behind the player.
I stand a few metres from him, silently listening to the play he performs. Eyes closed as the melodies go on, feeling a beautiful nostalgia from the piece.
"Y/N."
My eyes instantly open, showing Eddy glance to me with a confused look. He smile slightly seeing me flinched to his voice, then turn his body backing the piano.
"I was wondering why I feel like I was being watched."
My face flush into red as I tilt my head down, hiding my embarrased smile.
"I reckon you recognize the piece?" Eddy asked again.
I glance to Eddy and nods. "How could I not? It was my original piece which we played together long ago. You... You remembered."
Eddy scratch his nape of the neck. "Um... I guess I did. Yeah."
I walk to the piano, as Eddy follows. We're both sitting side by side, then I play some notes there. The same notes Eddy played before.
I glance to Eddy several times as I play, checking him and looked away to the piano again if he starts smiling to me. Once again, I tried to be focus to my playing, rather than distract by his features. He seems listening to the piano very well.
Why is he always making me nervous?
I stop when I reach the first run of the first subject. I chuckle a little. "I haven't played that in years. Feels so warm and nostalgic."
"Brings back memories, huh?" Eddy responds."You still play it very well though."
"Nah, you're too kind," I laugh to his compliment. "I remember you used to record the ocarina part with your recorder too, playfully."
"Well uh, that's..." Eddy scratches his neck again, feeling embarrased at his old cheery self. The vibe he lost in the past few years.
There's a silence passing through after that, as Eddy seems thinking what to say. "Hey, Y/N..."
"Hm?" I glance to him.
"Will you try the thesis again next semester?" he asked.
"Oh, about that..." I looked away, making a silence gap before I look at him again. "W-What about you?"
