The paramedics arrived in ten minutes. Chris was holding Hanna and sobbing, begging her to wake up.

"Sir we have to take her now." a man said, him and another rolling in a stretcher.

Chris had no desire to let go of her; only he could keep her safe. This was his fault anyways, he felt, he should've stayed with her.

Regardless of his thoughts, he set her down on the stretcher and allowed them to wheel her to the ambulance.

Chris climbed in the back with Hanna as the medics got her hooked up to machines, overcome by panic.

The medics asked a series of questions, which Chris could barely answer. He was so devastated by the thought of losing his love.

They arrived at the hospital quickly and Hanna was wheeled away, a nurse banning Chris from following.

Chris was sent to a waiting room. A nurse came after not too long, asking general questions about Hanna.

Chris forced himself to relax and answered each and every question he was asked with growing impatience.

He didn't care what this lady had to say. He wanted to know that his girlfriend, the love and light of his life, was okay.

It didn't take long for the nurse to get into more technical questions. Had Hanna had a cough these last few weeks?

Has she had a fever? Has she had an appetite? Has she been losing weight? Has she coughed up blood?

Chris found himself answering yes to each of these questions, as he held a small box in his hand.

It was really a light little thing, a black velvet box that contained a beautiful diamond ring meant for Hanna.

He's been waiting for Hanna to get better to carry out his proposal, but now, would he ever get the chance?

The nurse announced she was going to run some more tests on the girl, and then she would get the results as fast as possible.

Chris was left alone to his own thoughts once again, and cursed himself for leaving her alone. She'd be fine if he had stayed, surely.

He then remembered why he'd left, and decided to text his band mates, letting them know why he disappeared on them.

They arrived before the results did: Ricky, Angelo, Devin, and Ryan. They considered Hanna a sister, and loved her deeply.

All four males questioned Chris incessantly, desperate for information about their dear friend.

Chris was unable to give them answers, as he had been given none of his own.

After another hour went by, a doctor came out. "Anyone for a Hanna?" he called, scanning the room.

Chris and his bandmates jumped to their feet and rushed to the doctor quickly.

"How is she?" Chris panicked, "Is she okay?" The doctor looked down as he took a deep breath, sending devastation through Chris.

This behavior from a doctor couldn't be followed by good news. No one's behavior like this is ever followed by good news.

"Well, at first we thought it was a bad flu." the doctor sighed, "Then more information suggested TB..."

"Oh God, no.." Devin whimpered, his hand flying up over his mouth as Ricky leaned on him for support.

Ryan was floored and Balz was almost in tears. "We of course tested for TB and put a rush on the results." the doctor said.

"Is she fucking dead?" Ryan interrupted, his voice breaking. A smile appeared on the doctor's face.

"Hanna is stable." he said happily, "The results came back negative, we're sure now the blood was a result of coughing too hard."

"Oh my God, oh my God!" Chris exclaimed, now filled with happiness as he started sobbing with relief.

"You can see her if you'd like." The doctor granted, "We'd like to keep her overnight for observation, if all is well she can go home in the morning."

"What room is she?" Chris asked, wanting to see his love. "309." he answered, "Just one of you at a time though, please."

"Tell her we love her." Balz said, tears flowing freely now. "I will." Chris said. He thanked his friends for their support, and then raced to Hanna's room.

There she was, laying in a bed with her grey eyes closed, hooked up to a couple of machines, seemingly an IV and a heart monitor.

Her blond hair was flowing over her shoulders and down her chest, making her look like an Angel.

Chris figured she was asleep, so he sat down next to her bed. The sound caused Hanna to open her eyes and look over at the tall, masculine man in the chair.

"Chris." she smiled tiredly, reaching a hand out to him. Chris leaned closer and took her small hand in his large tattooed one.

"I'm here," he said, "I'm so sorry that I wasn't before." She shook her head weakly. "You're here now. We both are."

Chris wanted to propose then and there, but Hanna's rest was more important. She didn't need the excitement.

"The guys are here, in the waiting room." he told her, "They said to tell you they love you."

Hanna sighed and looked down. "They shouldn't be worrying about me. They've got better things to do."

Chris frowned and leaned even closer to her. "Hanna, of course they're going to worry, soon enough you'll be their sister-in law."

He kicked himself in the ass for his slip of the tongue when Hanna's jaw fell open in shock.

"Sister-in-law?" she gasped. Now or never. Chris reached into his pocket with one hand, the other still holding Hanna's.

"Hanna, I love you so much, more than I've ever loved anyone." he started, "When we met, I didn't care about relationships.

"I had just been burned by the inspiration for the Puppets Trilogy, and a new girlfriend was the last thing I wanted.

"But then I met you, and you had my heart from the second I laid eyes on you, the most beautiful person I've ever seen and had the pleasure of knowing.

"I couldn't resist you, not for a second. And I'm so glad I couldn't. We've been through so much together.

"No couple is perfect, and we aren't an exception to that. We've had some shit times. But we still stick together.

"I want to stick with you forever, Hanna, and I hope you want to stick with me. Will you do me the greatest honor in the universe, by becoming my wife?"

Hanna nodded as a sob escaped her. "Yes, absolutely yes." she cried, squeezing Chris's hand.

He slid the ring onto her finger, then hugged her short frame to his chest as tightly as he could without hurting his new fiancée.

"I love you. I love you so much." he murmured, his pierced lips in her hair. "I love you too Chris." she sobbed, clinging to him as though her life depended on it.

And then suddenly, she went limp, and then her heart monitor flatlined. "Hanna!" Chris screamed, his eyes searching her body for an explanation.

Doctors and nurses rushed in and Chris was forcibly removed from the hospital room, but Chris had time to see them wheel in a crash cart.

He stayed in the hallway, sitting against the wall as he cried. He couldn't lose her now, they've come this far, he wouldn't give up.

The same doctor as before came out within five minutes. "Mr. Cerulli?" he asked softly.

"Tell me she's okay." he demanded as he sprung to his feet, "She has to be okay."

The doctor shook his head and looked to the floor. "I'm so sorry for your loss." he told Chris, "You're more than welcome to go in and say your goodbyes. I'll have a nurse send for your friends."
