The clanking sound arose from in front of Linnea, Thomas, Minho, and the unconscious Alby, who had managed to make it through the night. A breath of relief escaped from Linnea's lips as she turned around, looking at Thomas, a smile appearing on both of their faces. They looked to Minho who looked back at Linnea and said, "We did it."
They did it. They lived through a night in the maze, or rather hopefully lived through it. They didn't know how Alby was and if he was alive. There was no saying. But Linnea, Thomas, and Minho lived through it. They were alive. Linnea lived through her second night in the maze.
Thomas looked into Linnea's eyes that had that special glint in it that he loved so much, and he knew that he'd done it. He's kept her alive. His mission was complete. She was alive, and he was as well. They proved something that was said to be impossible. They had seen something that no one else in the glade had seen. They had gone through something that hopefully no one else would have to go through. But none of that mattered, except that, they made it. They were alive. All of them.
All smiling and looking from one person to the other, Minho finally spoke, "Let's get outta here." Agreeing, Linnea and Thomas slung Alby over their shoulders, carrying him as they turned the corner and all of the other gladers could see them. They could see what they had done. What they had done. They had lived through a night in the maze and there was no magical liquid to save them. They just simply lived through it; and better yet, they had killed a Griever. Thomas had killed a Griever.
Across from the three, or rather four, stood Chuck, Zart, Newt, and many others, screaming, cheering, rejoicing for them. None of them had thought they would make it, but they did. As they weakly carried Alby out, and set him down to the ground, a gargantuan amount of questions erupted towards them amongst the gladers around them.
Once Alby was on the ground, Chuck pulled the taller girl into his short, chubby arms and enveloped her into a hug, saying, "I'm so glad you're alive."
"Of course," Linnea replied. "I would never leave you, Chuckie."
"Really?" He asked, and receiving an answer, Linnea nodded. "I would never leave you, Bestie." Linnea escaped the grasp of the smaller boy's arms, Chuck asked one last question, a question that had yet to be asked. "You saw a Griever?"
Linnea took her eyes off of the smaller boy and motioned them towards Thomas. Minho also looked at the boy. "Yeah," Thomas answered, looking at Linnea, thinking about all of the things that had happened the night before. "I saw one."
"He didn't just see it," Minho said, bending down over Alby. "He killed it."
All eyes were directed to Thomas, being taken off of the unconscious boy in front of them. All three of the conscious people that had been stuck in the maze knew exactly what was going through each and every one of the other gladers heads. It would be going through their own heads if it was them finding out about all of this information. A dead Griever? The Greenie killed a Griever? How in holy hell was this possible?
Truth was, though, none of them knew how it was either.

Gally, who for some reason, put himself in charge, called a gathering. It was almost mandatory, though. Linnea had kept her distance from Thomas at that time, though. Now that this was all over, now that they were all alive, she needed some distance from him. That was essential. Something just scared her about it. She needed her space. She sat around and talked with Chuck, and Newt. Frypan even came over and talked to her about it, the boy seeming a lot more friendly towards her. It all was so new.
Gally, though, had made this his own evidence to put Linnea and Thomas to shame. He thought there was something off with the two of them, he thought that all that Ben said had been said for a reason, and he believed it. Gally believed all of it, and he thought that everything that was happening was their fault. Linnea was the only girl, Thomas came and all hell broke loose. Something was wrong with it all. Something was definitely wrong.
