*1 week to dance*

I sing off key to the pop song on the radio as Gale drives his white Bentley through the mid-day sun of Illinois.

"Are we there yet ?" He asks for the hundredth time and I laugh. "I don't think I can handle anymore of your singing."

I roll my eyes and playfully hit his arm.

"Turn right here." I tell him and once he does the familiar white mansion comes to sight.

We park two houses from it and walk all the way there.

When I approached Gale three days ago telling him I needed him to place at most three cameras outside a certain house he accepted but wanted no more involvement in the act.

I wanted to monitor whatever it is Blake was doing and as much as I would have loved to have cameras inside his house, I can't, cause apparently that's illegal.

So the most I can do is place three cameras on his front gate and a tracker on his car.

The biggest advantage I have right now is that Blake has no security at the gate, so I type in the code and Gale and I both sneak in.

We head to the garage and I'm both panicked and relieved.

Relieved because Blake's black Porsche is parked there, and panicked because that means he's home, so we have to place the tracker quickly and quietly.

Twelve minutes later Gale mouths a done and we head to the car.

Inside the car, he connects my phone to the three cameras and tracker so I can monitor Blake on my phone.

"Thank you so much." I tell him and he smiles.

"You are late !" Charlie tells me while crossing her arms.

We are at the mall shopping for dresses and masks for that ball and as always, I turned up late.

"I'm sorry." I tell Charlie and she shrugs in reply.

We shop while making small talks. I try to not to think about Oren but I just can't help it.

When I get back home it's already six o'clock in the evening.

The sun is already setting and the atmosphere is changing.

I enter the house and the familiar perfume has me squealing in joy.

"Grandma ?" I call out twice and she replies that she's in the kitchen.

And true to her words, she's leaning against the stove making chicken risotto.

I ran towards her and fold her in a tight hug.

"I missed you so much." I whisper and she whispers it back.

...

We spend the whole evening catching up.

From her I learn that my dad just flew to Italy for a few weeks and he needed someone to stay with me since he won't be around.

We eat the chicken risotto in the dinning room then watch a movie before heading to bed.

I decided to take a quick shower to remove the day's sweat and exhaustion.

When I come out of the bathroom dressed in my blush pink pajama pants and black tank, I find my grandma seated on my bed holding my dress.

"He's a very special guy if this is what you are going to wear as his date to the ball." She says with a huge smile sprawled on her face.

I had told my grandma about the dance while we were having dinner and she was so exited to see my dress.

"I don't have a date to the dance grandma." I tell her, my voice several octaves low.

Her smile falls into a frown. "...but honey, you're so beautiful... why would no one ask you ?"

I'm silent for a little while before I chuckle a sob.

My grandma immediately gets up from where she's seated and hugs me tightly.

"He didn't ask me..." I sob and she shushs me.

"It's just that... it's that he's so bipolar. One minute were fine and the next... the next he's treating me like I don't exist.

He breaks me little by little...

I try to understand him but it's so hard to do so because he never let's me in, he never lets anyone in. No matter how hard I try."

I sob on my grandma's chest and she rubs small circles on my back to calm me down.

"He brings out the worst in me and... I like it."

*night of school dance*

"...and done."

My grandma exclaims once she finishes tying my hair into a tight bun, leaving a few streaks of hair to hung loose.

I'm about to thank her when the door bell rings.

"Your date is here." She squeals and I smile in return.

I check myself in the mirror for the last time.

I'm in a red, floor length, silk, off shoulder, vintage dress that has thigh high slits on both sides and a deep v-neck that's showing a lot more than it's covering.

My shoes are six inch black stilettos covered in silver spikes. My lips are covered in red red matte lipstick and burgundy lip liner.

My eyes are outlined with dark smoky eye-shadow and I'm content with the result.

I'm not wearing a lof of jewelry. Just a thin silver necklace, a single gold coated bracelet and red opal earrings.

"Let's get this over with." I pep talk myself before heading downstairs.

"You look beautiful honey." My grandma says once I reach the bottom stair.

I look at the door and there stands my date in a black tuxedo, holding a yellow rose.

"You look beautiful Sky." He says and my cheeks turn a faint pink.

"I thought you won't come. I had lost all hope."

"I would have never missed it for the world."

I smile at him before whispering a genuine ; "Thanks Cole."

"You are most welcomed Sky."
