Y/n L/n was most certainly an ordinary girl with blonde hair, blue eyes, no chin. She came to Metro City for new opportunities and a chance for a new happiness, but right now, she felt heartbroken. She felt cold and alone, and most of all, she was mad. She was mad at Megamind, at her ex boyfriend, at alcohol, and at so much more, but she knew. Y/n knew that the person she was mad at the most, was herself.

She crumpled into her bed and stared blankly at the plain wall in front of her. She wanted to cry, but no tears would spill out. It was just... quiet. Y/n laid there in the quiet, covered by the shadows. One hour passed, two, three...

Y/n jolted upright in her bed to the sound of her alarm. "When did I fall asleep" she thought to herself, but then she came to the conclusion that she didn't care. She was not going to let a man disrespect her and others and then feel guilty over it.

Y/n finally rolled out of bed and dressed herself more than usual. She has hours to kill before work, and she needed a small treat yo self day after last night's fiasco.

She wore a sunny yellow form fitting dress and cat eyeliner to highlight her eyes. She threw on a long brown trench coat over her dress and grabbed the bold red side bag that went perfectly with her lipstick shade. Ready to take on the world, Y/n stepped out of her house only to walk about half a block before she slid onto a chair in the Blue Dolphin Tea Shop.

The warm smells of herbs and steaming teas never failed to calm her nerves. She grabbed a menu and skimmed it for a delight that would get her mind off of things. "John Lemmon... no.....brick tea... no.... What the fuck is megapussi?" Y/n asked herself with a giggle. She settled on a 'Golden Gaytime' biscuit because the name made her laugh so hard that a shocked couple left the shop, cautiously remembering to stay away from the blonde girl hyena cackling.

After receiving her order, she looked up from her plate for just long enough to notice a familiar woman with glowing brown skin and a killer smile engrossed a conversation with one of the employees. In stark contrast to the night when Y/n had first met this woman, she was now exuding joy and kindness.

Y/n stared at the back of her head and examines her black shoulder length hair. "Should I talk to her?" The thought passed through her mind for a split second before reality struck her again like lightning "No, I could never speak to her after what I did with her boyfriend just yesterday."

Y/n broke her gaze from the woman's back and went back to focusing on the tea and biscuits sitting in front of her. Startled, Y/n whipped her head around when she felt the light touch of someone's hand on her back.

"I thought I recognized you!" Said the soothing voice, "you work at the bar right?"

    "Uh," Y/n fumbled, "y-yeah."

"I just want to talk about the other night." She said as Y/n's ears grew hot.

"What about it?" Y/n questioned frantically.

"You know, when I came in with Megamind. I can't express how sorry I am. I was rude, jealous, and in my defense, a little tipsy." She said as her once brown face changed into a bright pink. Y/n's heart had never slowed down faster. Megamind didn't tell her anything. What was once relief quickly changed to anger when she remembered that blue headed bastard. "No fuck he didn't say anything! He openly cheated on his girlfriend!" She thought, silently scolding both herself and that man whore.

Y/n forced a smile back onto her face, "So what brings you here?"

"I love this place! It's very calming to me. I met a lot of great people in this shop. And just maybe I've met one more," the clueless girlfriend said, making direct eye contact with Y/n. Meanwhile, Y/n's throat was on the verge of collapse due to the overwhelming guilt.

"So... I don't think you've told me your name," Y/n said in a shaky voice.

"Natasha." She replied with a smile. Y/n smiled back, finally being able to put a name to her face.

"I'm Y/n," she responded, "It's great to see you again."

"Maybe this is short notice," Natasha stated bashfully, "but would you maybe... I don't know... like to do something with me this afternoon?"

Y/n's chest was being eaten away by guilt. She didn't want to turn down such a sweet invitation, but getting close to this woman meant telling her a harsh truth she didn't want to reveal.

"I can make time," Y/n replied, "I just have to get to work by 7:00."

"Great, we can go have some fun and then I'll drive you home to grab your stuff by 6:30. If you'd like, I can get you a ride to the bar as well. "

"Sounds like a plan," Y/n said, slightly nervous, but overall glad that she made a new friend. "Please." Y/n thought to herself, "Please don't fuck this up for yourself."

"There's a carnival in town this week, I've been meaning to go before it ends. Do you want to join me?" A little bit of fun is exactly what Y/n needed. Without a moment's hesitation, Y/n replied with a grin and two quick nods.

The two of them hopped in Natasha's car and drove to the carnival in 10 minute's time. Natasha's eyes lit up like a child's, "Let's go on the ferris wheel, they're my favorite!" Y/n stayed awkwardly quiet until the two of them hopped in the cart.

"So..." Natasha said, "I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a little bit of intention behind this excursion." She looked ashamed. "I... want to know how you captured Megamind's attention. I struggle to even get him to notice me, but the way he looked at you in the bar... It was like when we first met."

Y/n looked at her friend and her eyes widened when she saw her face. Y/n knew what that face meant all too well. Not the expression of sadness or even jealousy, but it was a look of loneliness. Y/n, after a moment's hesitation, faced forward, lifted her arm, and placed it on Natasha's back. Natasha flinched slightly at this sudden contact, but then relaxed. Her eyes welled with tears.

"Boys..." Y/n started, "They're so-" Y/n sighed. She didn't even need to finish her statement for Natasha to understand what she was trying to say.

"I miss him," Natasha whispered so quietly, Y/n wondered whether she was meant to hear it.

"Natasha, I need to tell you something." Y/n said. Natasha's head looked up at her.

"Megamind came into the bar last night," Y/n continued, "he... kissed me-" She cut herself off, "he was drunk, he said sorry-" She stopped, knowing there was no sugar coating the bomb she dropped. Natasha was visibly shaken. Her entire body was trembling. "Of course she's angry." Y/n thought to herself before realizing that she wasn't angry at all. She felt betrayed. Without a word, Natasha buried her face in Y/n's shoulder and shed a couple of tears before composing herself in the true spirit of a tv reporter.

"I- I'm fine," she said, "I'm fine." Rather than telling Y/n, it felt more as if she was reassuring herself. Y/n embraced her friend and gently stroked her head, as if to say that it was ok to cry. The next 5 minutes were silent other than the suspended sniffles and chokes from Natasha and the occasional soft words of comfort from Y/n.

When the ride was over, instead of enjoying the rest of what the carnival had to offer, they sat together in comfortable silence leaning against one another. By the time the sun began to set, their feet were asleep and their legs were sore from sitting. The two women looked at each other and smiled. They smiled until those smiles turned into laughs. "It's about time I get you to work," Natasha giggled.
