Y/n cracked a smile, "maybe my soulmate isn't Megamind or even James," Y/n stood up and threw her hand to her forehead dramatically, "Hello my dearest drama, my love! Boy problems, my admirer from afar! It seems I can never escape you!"
Just then, Jessie poked her head inside the back room with a laugh she was trying, and failing, to suppress. She raised her eyebrows and put her hands on her hips, "drama your love and boy problems your admirer huh?" she said in a mocking tone.
Y/n buried her head in her hands, her cheeks flushed a bright red from embarrassment. "Oh god you heard that?"
Jessie, recognizing Y/n's embarrassment, took on a soothing tone, "Don't worry about it. I had my fair share of boy troubles, but then I decided I was done with boys. Now I'm much happier. Maybe you should take a break from them too." Y'n's eyebrows furrowed and her diamond eyes focused on her feet. "Oh! Umm.. only if you want to," Jessie stammered, "I'm not in charge of your life or anything."
Smiling, Y/n lifted her head and took a deep breath, "I'll see you tomorrow... thanks for the advice." Y/n lingered by the door just long enough to catch Jessie lean her forehead against the wall in mortificton out of the corner of her eye.
The walk home was long and cold, but Y/n needed it to clear her head. She had experienced far too much drama for one day. Maybe even a lifetime. She heaved a heavy sigh, forcing a cloud of vapor into the brisk air. She tried to avoid looking at her reflection in the shop windows. Megamind still consumed her thoughts no matter how hard she tried to clear her head. She thought of the kiss, and her heart melted upon remembering how much she enjoyed it. Y/n wished that time had stopped at that very moment, right before she remembered that the man she was kissing was in a relationship. It was the most perfect second of her life. The feeling that someone so sexy could actually want her was powerful, but even more powerful was the guilt and self-loathing. She approached the door of her home. "Thank goodness,' she thought, "My head is going to explode if I don't sleep soon." Y/n practically threw herself into bed and fell asleep in the matter of seconds.
Y/n's eyes flew open as she frantically looked at her surroundings. The familiar buildings and greenery signified to her that she was in her old Honors Bartending Psychology II class from College. The stressful atmosphere made her stomach lurch but then she realized she's goated at bartending 💪. "Why am I back in College," she thought, followed by, "Shit, I'm late for class!" She scooped up her things and ran out of the classroom, when everything around her changed. Her foot tapped against the solid floor of the checkered hallway. She walked towards the door, but the ground turned to liquid under her feet. She clawed for the doorknob to stay afloat, but she slipped down into the darkness. Suddenly, she felt a familiar and tight grip on her wrist, suspending her from a deep pit of blackness. Y/n's eyes widened and looked up to see the worried face of her ex, James. "I would rather fall in that pit than get saved by him again," she thought to herself with a scoff. "Okay, lol" he said, seemingly reading her thoughts. He slowly loosened his grip and watched as darkness enveloped her, giggling slightly as she fell out of sight. "Hee hee hee hee," Y/n heard in the distance, the dolphin laughter of doom.
Y/n opened her eyes once again, and blinked as she adjusted to the brightness of the sun streaming through the windows, making her feel warm and fluffy inside. Her dream reminded her that moving to Metro City was the best decision she had ever made. "I remember something...blue," she thought, but the thought quickly faded as a boy walked in with an all too familiar angry face and clenched fists, wearing an expression that looked almost betrayed.
"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME," He screamed at the startled Y/n.
As if she wasn't in control of her own body, Y/n felt tears falling down her face and heard herself say "I'm sorry James it was my fault I'm sorry." "NO IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT," Y/n screamed to herself, but her mind and body were doing two different things.
"YOU DUMB PIECE OF RHINO SHIT" screamed James at the top of his lungs. "MY LIFE CHANGED THE MOMENT YOUR STANKY HOE ASS CAME INTO IT"
"No, I smell bussin" Y/n said, shaking violently, "I take a shower using dove soap every day, that shit's not cheap. It's the jumbo pack from Costco, I made sure to buy it on the day of the sale. You just never appreciate the things I do for you."
"SHUT THE FUCK UP" yelled James, his face bright red, before his fist crushed Y/n's dove soap bar next to her, "Next time, It'll be your face."
Before either of them could do anything, Y/n's dream changed once again and she opened her eyes to feel a scorching heat in front of her. Again, not in control of her body, she noticed herself dialing 911 with tears flowing down her face, probably from the smoke. Every time she hit a button it would delete itself, making her frantic typing feel pointless. "Tears again. A recurring pattern it seems," she thought to herself, "but I feel so light compared to everything else. Relieved, even." Y/n felt her face change into a smile of pure joy as she turned from the burning house and walked away. "There wouldn't be a next time" Y/n whispered so quietly that she could barely even hear herself. Then, she burst into a dolphin-like giggle of relief. She dropped the phone, relaxing every muscle in her body. As it hit the floor, her eyes slapped open.
