After stopping at Y/N's home so she could grab her uniform, Natasha drove her over to the bar to start her shift.
"Thanks so much for driving me," Y/N said, "I'm so sorry that we officially met in this way.""It was no problem really," Natasha replied, "Actually, could I come in? I have a good friend who works here." The two of them walked in together, and Y/N shuttered upon looking at the street that she had the drunken encounter with Megamind. The bar welcomed them with a jingle, and Natasha's face lit up with joy, "Hi, Jessie!"
"Hey, Nat!" She replied as they hugged each other. Y/N recalled what Jessie had mentioned yesterday, about how she was close friends with Megamind's girlfriend. "Megamind." Y/N suddenly remembered, her brain flooding with unwelcome memories. Y/N flashed Jessie a smile and headed out to the back to throw on her apron that was embroidered 'Friends of Dorothy' on the top right, signifying the name of the bar. Y/N rushed out to start her shift and stopped in her tracks when she saw who was sitting on a barstool. Jessie and Natasha looked speechless as well. Jessie stepped protectively in front of Natasha whose face was frozen in a mix of fear and anguish. Megamind didn't seem to notice his girlfriend who was silently staring from the corner of the bar. He spotted the blonde stepping out from the back room and his face lit up.
"Hey," he beamed as he shot up from his seat holding something, "I just wanted to-" He paused, finally noticing his girlfriend in the shadows. His face was that of someone whose heart dropped at least 500 meters. The spark in his eyes faded but his smile remained. "Nat! My love! These are for you," he said, holding out the beautiful flowers. Well, they could be considered beautiful if they were given in any other situation.
Natasha looked down at the flowers that were practically shoved into her hands and she gave him her classic reporter smile. At least, it certainly looked like her reporter smile, but anyone a mile away could feel the coldness emanating from her stare. Megamind shuddered as Natasha said, "And how in the world did you know I would be here right now? Or is this the time you knew someone else would start her shift?"
"Babe, I need to come cle-" Megamind started.
"Don't. Call. Me. Babe," Natasha snarled.
"It was yesterday and I was drunk and I know that doesn't excuse anything and I... I love you, I really do, just not the way you deserve."
"Fuck yeah you don't deserve me," Natasha said, staring directly into his soul. Y/N could feel the tension in the air, and her heart pounded with each clack of Natasha's heels. Natasha backed towards the corner of the bar as everyone watched in confused silence. Without warning, Natasha held the flowers out in front of her, dropped them, and kicked them as hard as she could before they could hit the ground. Her anger must not have hindered her aim, because the flowers flew and smacked Megamind right in his gigantic head. To be fair, her target was quite large.
The flowers seemed to peel off of his shocked face, and they landed on the floor with a soft thud. Everyone's eyes were on the flowers which now laid tarnished on the ground. Even Dave seemed to sober up as they poked their head out from the back to watch the show.
Defeated, Megamind slumped his way to the door. He turned back one last time to meet his emerald eyes with Y/N 's diamond ones. He looked like a baby who just got his candy taken away. Y/N could see the regret in his eyes, though understandably, Natasha was blind to it.
Dirk broke the silence. "Holy shit," they laughed, "Who needs cable when we have the live version instead. Fuck you, AT&T." Natasha's face cleared from anger.
"I have to move again it seems. I don't want to spend another minute with that.... that vampire slut," Natasha groaned in frustration.
Y/N raised an eyebrow and cracked a smile, "Vampire slut. Well that's certainly a unique one." She turned her head to the floor where the flowers sat, noticing a small piece of cornflower blue paper. "I'd better clean this up," she said, shuffling towards the mess, "You guys head out, I'll finish my shift here."
"Oh my~ how responsible of you." Jessie cut in with a smile. To be honest, Y/N forgot she was standing there in the midst of the situation. "I'll be in the back." Natasha paused, almost afraid to go home.
"Thanks," she said, "Thanks for telling me. I had been looking for excuse after excuse to leave him. No matter what I did, I just never felt that my love was reciprocated. I guess I'm to blame for holding on to someone who wanted to be let go..."
"Don't blame yourself," Y/N cut in, "You deserve all of the love this world has to offer."
"Thanks, I'll leave you to it," Natasha said reluctantly, "Good luck."
Y/N waved her out and turned her attention to the card on the floor. After bunching up all of the tulips, hydrangeas, and poppys (all of which were a brilliant blue), Y/N studied the envelope, apprehensive to open it. She tore it gently and pulled the card out with her delicate hands.
"I'm deeply sorry for my actions," the card read in brilliantly neat handwriting, "I was intoxicated. Even so there is no excuse. As you know, I have a girlfriend, and what I've done to her is unforgivable. I don't deserve her. I plan on coming clean and breaking up with her. I can only pray she takes it well, though I deserve every ounce of wrath she may unleash on me. The love I had with her is gone, and I was reminded of this when I saw you for the first time. It was you at the airport, wasn't it? " Y/N nearly dropped the card when she read this line. "He... remembers..?" She thought to herself. She knew she shouldn't have been blushing but at this moment, she knew her face was deep red and she hated herself for that fact. Y/N steadied herself before reading on, "Anyways, this has made me realize that the one I truly love... is you. I know you cannot accept me now, but I will try my best to become a better man. Sincerely, A lost blue man"
This time Y/N really did drop the card. He... WHAT?! Y/N sat down and read the card again. And again. And again. Before she knew it, an hour had passed and all she had done was read and reread the card. She could hear her heart pounding in her ears as she sat alone in the back of the bar.
"I- I feel bad for him," she finally decided, her heart heavy from guilt. "I shouldn't feel bad, but he meant no harm... What do I say to Natasha?" Y/N leaned back onto the wall and sighed, rubbing her temple. "How did things become so complicated?" she muttered under her breath, "I moved here to get away from the drama, but I ran right back into its clutches."
