It was days later and Y/n still couldn't get the image of the mysterious blue man who helped her out of her mind. Every time she closed her eyes she could see the image of his beautiful face and mischievous smile looking back at her. Unsure of how she could ever forget his face, Y/n began to unpack the few belongings she had taken with her.

Out of her suitcase, she pulled a bottle of Smirnoff that she somehow snuck onto the plane. And that was it, that was all she packed. She drank to forget, but instead found herself more desperate than ever to feel the warm, comforting grasp of his strong blue hand once again.

Never had she found herself so in love with someone, not even with her previous boyfriend, James. Her time with James was complicated to say the least. No matter how much Y/n had cared for him, in the end, he was just someone she never wished to remember. She had to end it, which resulted in the most heart wrenching experience she had ever faced. To this day she couldn't shake images of his angry face, his clenched fists.... and the flames. She needed to distract herself before the tears came back. She had only just moved to Metro City and her past was already on her mind. At least she had one thing to look forward to: work. She would start tomorrow, and with that in mind, she slept through the night.

Y/n woke up to the sound of birds chirping and tinted blue light streaming through the window, illuminating her room with a slight blue glow. "Blue... reminds me of that mysterious fellow from yesterday," she thought to herself. With that in mind, she stretched and headed to the bathroom, only to see her reflection have a flushed red glow at the face. She imagined what it would be like to wake up to a charming blue face lying next to her rather than a lonely, plain beige pillow. She pictured a house filled with laughter, happiness, and life compared to her current state of a bed pushed to the corner of a room and echoing halls of loneliness.

She put on her work outfit and some light makeup before pausing to examine her face. "Is that face one that someone as magnificent as he could love?" she pondered. She grew self-conscious about her lack of chin, but quickly snapped herself back to reality by leaving marks of a slap on her cheek and ran out the door. Y/n hailed herself a cab and found herself at the bar less than 15 minutes later. Her new boss seemed a little odd with a grey painted face and red horns. "Umm... hey boss," Y/n said with a short glance of confusion at the horns, but she quickly brushed it off.

"Dave LaLonde, your boss. Charmed, I'm sure," they said with an evidently fake British accent and a slight tip of the horn. "A fair warning: If I show up to work drunk, it's just daddy issues. Just let it pass." they chimed with a smile before walking off to pick up a bottle of vodka and instantly chugging it.

Y/n winced and muttered, "That's gonna sting tomorrow," under her breath.

"It's ok, you'll get used to it," chuckled a mysterious voice behind her. Y/n whipped her head around, startled at the sudden voice only to face a chill-looking girl with long brown hair.

"OH! Uuuuuh... *hic*... this is uuuuuuh.... Barbara. She has experience *hic* here so ummmmmm.... she can... show you the ropes!" slurred Dave before burying their face in another bottle. They re-emerged to say, "Uuuuh, Barb, this is ummm, the new one... the one with a chronic lack of chin...she's... the new one."

"Hi! I'm Y/n L/n. Nice to meet you, Barbara. Also, please don't mention my chin, it's a touchy subject," Y/n said with a bitter smile.

"No problem. Let me show you the basics of the job. You'll pick it up in no time at all," Barbara responded while ushering Y/n behind the bar. "You said you had some prior experience in your hometown, so I'm sure you know how to make drinks. The important lessons I can give are about how to deal with the hotties that pass through the bar each day. If you see someone you have your eyes on, give me a sign, and I'll act as a wingwoman for you. I do have a boyfriend after all, so I know what I'm doing," she said, throwing in a silly, over-exaggerated wink. Y/n doubted she would lay eyes on anyone that would peak her interests, but she decided she would keep her eye out anyway.
