"See you at six, Delilah!" The high school band instructor says. "You too!" Delilah says and walks out of the school.
Her backpack is heavy and full of textbooks, instantly making her shoulders straighten more than normal.
She removes it once she get to her Chevy Bronco, her shoulders slumping and relaxing, and sets it in the backseat.
She climb into the truck and starts it, the engine loudly roaring to life.
Her Father gave her his truck, Lucy, the day she urned fifteen. She's an old '91 Stick Shift Chevy Bronco, dark blue in color.
The AC in Lucy isn't relaible, but she is. She's never broken down on Delilah, or her dad once, and her motor still runs and purs like it did when Dad first brought her home from the dealership.
Delilah brings a hand up and rubs the dashboard. "That's my girl." She talks the truck and cranks up the heat, pointing the vents towards herself. It's a cold day in Dallas, about twenty degrees outside. She's about 90 percent sure her cheeks are totally flushed from the wind.
She puts Lucy in gear and leaves the school's parking lot. Stopping at a stoplight, Delilah turns on the radio.
Machines by Crown The Empire comes on, and she turns it up a bit. CTE is her favorite band in the world, even though her brother is the second vocalist. Delilah was actually a fan of CTE long before David joined the band.
She's always liked heavier music, meanwhile Lilith is a more of a John Mayer type.
Don't get her wrong, Delilah loves some John Mayer, she just prefer heavier music.
When she gets home, the song has just ended. She turn the heater off and grabs her backpack.
"Thank you, Lucy." She rubs the dash once more and hop out, taking the keys out of the ignition.
She shuts the door and that's when she notices the black suburban parked in front of the house.
Lilith's BMW car is parked in her normal spot in the driveway.
Delilah shrugs her shoulders. She probably has one of her friends over. She walks inside and hears Lilith giggling in the kitchen.
"Lil!" She calls, leaving her keys on the hook on the side of the foyer wall. She removes her Carhart coat and hangs it on the coatrack.
"Kitchen, Delilah!" Her sister calls. "Who's parked out front? Did Georgia get a new car?" She asks and pushes open the kitchen door.
Delilah stops dead in her tracks and a huge smile spreads over her face. "David!"
Her brother sits at the island, leaning on the marble surface with a smile on his face, directed towards his sister.
She hasn't seen him in nearly seven months, and she can barely contain herself as she hugs him like he'll disappear if she lets him go.
"Dear god, Sis, you're gonna kill me!" He laughs. "I'm sorry, I just missed you, is all." She laughs and lets him go.
"Nooooooo!" He drawls and stands up and picks his sister up, hugging her around her shoulders.
"Easy!" She laughs and hugs his torso. "God, I feel like I'm gonna break you, Delilah."
He sets her down. "You still playing the shit outta that flute?" He asks, pinching her cheeks. "I am." Delilah nods, smiling.
"Hey, not that I'm complaining, but why're you here?"
"Well, we just finished the East Coast leg of the Resistance tour, and we stopped back home for about two months. And, I haven't seen you or Lily in so long, so I decided to stop by." He says.
The three of them end up talking and spending time together for three hours, and Delilah looks at the clock for the first time since she came home. "Oh, crap, I'm gonna be late." She says, getting up from her spot at the island. "For what?" David asks.
"Marching band practice." Lilith answers for her, pushing her glasses up to the bridge of her nose. "Oh, cool, do you want me to drive you?" He asks.
"Nah, it's cool, stay and spend time with Lil, I know she missed you as much as I did." She assures him. Lilith rolls her brown eyes.
"Alright, just call if you need me." They say in unison. "I will." Delilah promises, mainly to David and kisses his cheek. Once again, Lilith rolls her eyes.
Lilith honestly isn't too fond of Delilah, but David loves her to death.
He always makes sure to call her when he's away on tour and we tell each other about our days, meanwhile Lilith goes out to bars with her friends 24/7.
Delilah is home alone most of the time, only her Flute, Lucy, and her phone to keep her company.
Sometimes Lilith is gone for days and weeks at the time, and she either end up skipping school and driving into Dallas to see David, or he comes and sees her if he's home from tour.
But for the past seven months, David has been away, so she can only call and Skype him whenever Lilith is gone.
She goes up to her room and grab my band coat and flute case and when she comes downstairs, she hears her siblings talking in the kitchen.
"She doesn't seem right." David lowly says. "What do you mean? She's never been right." Lilith says.
"She.. just doesn't seem quite right. It seems like you two aren't spending enough time together." He says.
"Pssh, we spend everyday together." She says. Lies. "I'm just a little worried about her, is all." He says.
"You shouldn't be." She says. Delilah walk into the kitchen again.
"I'll be back around eight, okay?" She says, mainly talking to her brother. "I can pick something up from town for supper?"
David smiles. "Mexican Pizza?" He asks her. "Mexican Pizza." She answers.
Every time David comes home, they always go to the best pizza place in town, and they eat Mexican pizza. It's like regular pizza, but with grilled chicken, shrimp, and beef fajitas on top. If you haven't had mexican pizza, you haven't lived.
"Large?" She asks him and He excitedly nods. "You should get two, so we can put some in the fridge for later." David says and pulls out his wallet.
"Ah ah ah." Delilah scolds him like a dog. "No, I'm gettin' it."
"Southern Hospitality." He grins. "Oh, hush, I just don't want you to pay for it." She laughs.

Band practice went well, they had a few slip ups, mainly because of the freshman brass players, who can't keep time, but Delilah was the same way when she first joined marching band and the orchestra. Playing with a group of people and an old woman directing about twenty people at once is very different from playing alone in your bedroom with a metronome.
She puts her things back in the truck and call and order the pizzas. Mario's is ten minutes from here, and they each need five to cook.
She takes her time getting there, because Crown The Empire are on the radio again, Millennia playing this time.
Delilah gets home ten minutes later and notices that Lilith's car is gone, but Brent's is still there, in a different spot this time.
She pulls into her normal spot and shuts the truck off, Second Thoughts stopping.
Getting out, she retrieves my flute bag from the backseat and throw the straps onto her shoulders, and grabs the pizzas from the front seat.
She goes to the front door and open it, finding it unlocked. her face tingles when the warm air touches her skin as she hangs her keys on the hook. She hears conversation coming from the living room, meaning David has the TV wide ass open.
"David, could you turn the TV down?" Delilah loudly asks.
David walks into the foyer and takes the pizzas. "That's not the TV." He grins.
"If you have Todd over, that's fine, we have enough food for a small army."
"Nah, Todd's in Washington, I just have a few buddies over, if that's okay." He says. "That's okay, I'll be right back." She says and go upstairs.
She places her flute on the nightstand and changes into a CTE crewneck shirt.
She goes downstairs and hears talking in the kitchen. She pushes open the little door and literally stops walking and her heart starts racing.
Her stomach goes to knots as excitement runs through her bloodstream.
