Delilah woke up the next day with a smile on her face, happy as a jay bird. She got up, showered and got dressed to go downstairs. She goes downstairs, only to see Lilith sitting on the couch arranging papers on the coffee table. Probably work stuff, or something.
"Whatcha doin, Lily?" Delilah asks, flopping down on the couch beside her sister.
"Going through your sheet music, the production is tomorrow." Lilith says.
"Shit, really?!" She practically shouts. "Shit, really." Lilith replies.
"Oh, God, I need to get somethin' picked out to wear, you know I'm shit at that, I need to make sure that I can play my pieces without fuckin' up, I need to, holy buckets." Delilah says, rambling.
She rambles when she's nervous. "Move it, sister, I gotta get everything in order."
Lilith gets up and leaves Delilah to nervously fumble through her sheet music, putting the papers into stacks for each song. They're doing the whole score of the musical, which is 20 songs, all in one go, about ten or so seconds between to switch out music.
Delilah's done many orchestra productions like this, but never one with this much attention.
They've already sold nearly five hundred tickets already, more than double the normal audience.
Someone knocks on the front door and Delilah gets up to answer it. David and Brent stand on the front porch, smiling.
"Hey!" David smiles. "Hey!" She replies. David leans down to give her a quick hug, and Brent smiles at her. "Hey There, Delilah." He grins.
"Hey, Brent." She smiles and goes onto her tiptoes to wrap her arms around his neck in a warm and tight hug. His arms wrap around her waist, once again lifting her up a bit.
"What's up with all the papers on the table?" David suddenly asks and Brent sets her down on the floor. "C'mon." Delilah grins, grabbing his hand. They go into the living room and she explains what the papers are for.
When they sit on the couch, she sits on her knees in front of the table to sort through the papers. "Dee, why are you stressing out so much about it, you know you'll do great." David says as his sister gathers papers up and separates them into stacks.
"We've already sold five hundred tickets for the show, and we've NEVER sold that many tickets for an Orchestra show, and I've been doing them for three years now. Also, I'm playing all of the singing notes on the violin for twenty songs with less that a ten second break between them." She says. "I still have to practice through the songs at least twice today to make sure that I can play without fuckin' them up."
David and Brent just listen to Delilah ramble as she continues to sort papers. Suddenly, she smacks her palm down on the table. "AND DAVID, MOM AND DAD ARE SUPPOSED TO SHOW UP." Delilah says with enthusiasm, her eyes wide as she quickly speaks.
Brent smiles at her, unable to keep the smile off of his face. "Really?" David asks her, unable to believe it. Their parents have said they'd show up for every one of her performances, and they haven't shown up for one.
"FROM WHAT LILITH SAID, YES." Delilah nods. "But, I highly doubt they'll show up." She adds.
She's honestly lost all hope of her parents ever showing up to one of her performances. Every time she and the orchestra walk on stage, she looks directly to the seats that are reserved for her parents in the front row, but they're never there, making Delilah's heart sink.
"We already agreed that we'd come." David says, gesturing between him and Brent, who nods with a smile on his face. "Hayden, Andrew, Brandon and Benn, too." Brent says.
"Don't forget about Nathan and Bailey." David adds.
"Y'all should wear ponchos." She says. "Why?" David asks.
"Because I'm most likely gonna throw up." Delilah answers, making them laugh.

David gets up to go answer his phone, saying that it's his girlfriend, so he steps outside. Delilah is still sorting through her music, and Brent is still smiling at her. "I really appreciate you smiling at me, It's making me not as nervous." She says, looking up from her papers and smiles at Brent. "I'm just smiling at you because I like smiling at you." He replies. He gets up from his seat on the couch and sits on the floor beside Delilah. He wraps an arm around her waist and he pulls her into his lap as he sits indian style. She sits on his legs and he wraps his arms around her. "Just relax, Delilah, you're gonna be great." He softly says.
"I know, Brent, but I can't help it." Delilah sighs and leans back into his warm embrace, and places her arms over his.
"What time do you have to be at the school?" Brent asks her, resting his chin on her shoulder.
As he does so, he smells her hair that smells like strawberries and green apples.
"About three to practice with the group once or twice before the show starts at six, why?" She answers. "Because I wanna drive you there." He answers, gently nuzzling her cheek with his nose.
"Okay." She giddily giggles. "Dude, are you seriously cuddling my sister?" David asks, chuckling.
The pair look up, seeing David sit on the floor beside them. "Yes." Brent answers, making them laugh. "He absolutely adores you, y'know." David says to Delilah. She smiles and turns her head to look at Brent. "I know." She replies, making Brent smile.
The three spend the day organizing Delilah's sheet music, eating food and listening to music, Brent attached to her the entire time. She didn't mind, of course, and neither did he when she scoots or nuzzles closer to him.
David smiles at his sister and his bandmate, admiring how happy they make each other.
Delilah seems to be happy, and she truly is. She hasn't been this happy in a long, long time.
And it's all because of Brent Taddie.

That night, Delilah went downstairs to get a glass of water, and never expected to fall down the stairs in the dark.
She never expected to be in the emergency room at three o'clock in the morning, either.
