Tommy
The second those three words I never thought I'd say left my lips, everything moved in slow motion.
Keira's weak fingers brushed over my discarded gun and lifted it shakily, aiming at Alejandro while he aimed at me.
"Goodbye, Alejandro." She whispered almost inaudibly.
In the seconds he switched his attention from me to her, two gunshots reverberated through the room.
Adrenaline pumped in my veins as Alejandro dropped to the ground before me, his face frozen in shock. My eyes immediately flew back to Keira. She was lying motionless on the floor, blood pooling around her chest slowly. I felt my soul leave my body as the realization of the last few seconds hit me like a train.
This was not happening.
I flew across the room and sank down next to her, pulling her into my arms. "Keira?! Baby open your eyes. Open your eyes!" I shook her as the pure horror of the sight before me collided.
"Tommy..." She whispered, her eyelids fluttering with struggle to stay conscious.
"Baby... Just hold on okay? I've got you. Hold on." I murmured, pushing my panic aside for her sake. "Look at me Keira, keep your eyes on me." I demanded.
Her blue crystals pierced into my shattering soul as she fought a losing battle.
I scanned her entire body and found a gunshot wound in her shoulder, seeping blood too quickly.
"Fuck." I pressed down on the would to halt the blood loss but she was already so weak. "You're going to be okay. You're going to be fine." I murmured desperately, trying to convince myself more than her.
"No I'm not,Tommy." Her voice was so broken I had to bring my ear down to her lips just to hear her tell me something I couldn't accept.
I would not lose her. It wasn't an option.
"Yes you are, baby. Please don't leave me." I begged, pressing my fingers into the seeping wound as I held her weakening body. "I can't lose you. You're going to be okay."
My head shot up to the door as the smell of smoke grew stronger. I needed to get her out of here. Now.
I didn't even spare Alejandro a second look as I scooped her into my arms and ran down the hallway quickly filling with smoke. I prayed the helicopter was waiting for me on the roof. I pressed her bleeding shoulder against my body as hard as I could and climbed the staircase to the roof two stairs at a time.
"We're almost there baby, hold on." I murmured as her eyes struggled to stay open. I could see the life leaving her faster by the second and it was taking me down with her.
In that moment I decided I would go back to the roller coaster and this time I would jump. If Keira leaves me, I'm following her to the after life.
The sound of the chopper running in the distance sent me flying faster than I thought I was capable. I slammed through the last door and met Blaze's eyes across the roof.
"Give her to me!" He yelled over the deafening propellers as I approached the helicopter.
I let him pull her out of my arms and lay her down on the floor while I jumped in after her.
"Go! go! go!" I boomed to Hunter in the cockpit. "Land at the nearest hospital."
"Boss that's suicide!" He yelled back in shock. We were criminals and she was probably high on the most wanted list but I didn't care. I couldn't lose her, not like this.
"JUST DO IT!" I roared. Within seconds we were airborne, sailing over my compound. Flames engulfed half of the mansion but I didn't care. My men could take care of themselves, most of them were probably safe underground at this point anyway.
I kneeled, pulling Keira's head into my lap as Blaze put pressure on her wound. Viper and Thor hovered nearby, staring at the scene before us in shock.
"I'm not losing you." I whispered fiercely as I brushed my lips over hers so gently. I felt her shallow breathing against me as I held her face in my palms. "C'mon Keira, you're not fucking dying on me."
Her sluggish eyes fluttered as she locked her perfect eyes with my frantic ones. She was fading in and out of consciousness and I knew it was only a matter of time before she wouldn't fade back in.
She inhaled shakily. "I love you, Tommy." Her voice was so soft as her crystal eyes stared up at me with sorrow. The words that should've warmed my heart and soul sent arctic chills throughout my body. She was saying goodbye.
"No, Keira. You are not saying fucking goodbye right now. You're going to be fine, baby." I gritted through painfully clenched teeth. I was losing it completely. I turned to Hunter in the cockpit. "ETA?!"
"T, you're not thinking clearly." Blaze demanded my attention. "We can't land on the roof of a public hospital, are you fucking crazy?"
"I'm not letting her die!" I bellowed, challenging every man in this helicopter.
"So you're going to risk all of our lives for a useless whore?" Viper piped up from the corner, glaring at the dying girl in my arms with pure disdain. "Her pussy must be fucking enchanted."
"What the fuck did you just say?!" I exploded. Within seconds I had launched across the chopper, grasped him by the throat and thrown the side door open.
"I should have eradicated you a long time ago." I snarled as I dangled his body over the edge, forceful winds whipping at us. Viper thrashed against me in horror as I pushed him farther off the platform. My mind bled into a frenzy as he begged desperately for forgiveness, but I couldn't find a shred of sympathy left within me.
"KNOX! We're losing her!" Blaze's distressed voice broke through my psychotic break and I turned to see my right hand man panicking as he did chest compressions on the only person I've ever loved.
I let go of Viper with no remorse and slid back to my dimming solace. I pinched my eyes shut in regret when I realized my loss of control pulled me away from her when she needed me the most.
"Fuck–no no no no no...." I barely recognized my own voice fractured voice as I held her face in my hands. "You can't leave me baby... You're not fucking dying!"
Blaze began to slow compressions as he stared at me with pity. I shoved him aside roughly and took over pumping her chest, I refused to let the only solace I'd ever experienced fade away right before my eyes. I dropped my mouth to hers and pushed air into her lungs.
I lost all concept of reality outside of my dying love. Next thing I knew we had touched down on the helipad of Cedars-Sinai and doctors were pulling her from my weak arms.
I fell out of the chopper and dropped to my knees on the roof, hanging my head in my hands and tugging at my hair in distress. Losing her wasn't an option, I couldn't accept it. Dawn was illuminating the sky slowly as I knelt on the cold, hard ground for an unknown length of time.
"We need to put a plan in place. If Keira survives this, the second she is out of surgery and stabilized we grab her and run. Thor, call Phantom, we need to divert the authorities. Hunter, guard the chopper and get ready to make a break for it." Blaze took over leading my men as I crumbled before them completely.
I knew what this meant for my reputation, but I couldn't seem to find a fuck to give. I was nothing without her, if those doctors returned with bad news I knew without a doubt I would pull my Beretta from my waistband and put a bullet through my own head.
