Tommy
Once we found Alejandro's underground lair, breaking in and getting my men into position was practically effortless.
I kept my smirk under control as I weaved through the crowd of convicts clashing glasses of liquor and celebrating the death of the Notorious Knox.
Knowing I would see Keira again soon calmed me. Having a plan in place and a solid upper hand kept my mind sharp and focused.
Finding a decoy who looked enough like me to take the fall was easy since my true identity was the Revenant's best kept secret for so long.
Alejandro and his incompetent men fell for the trap easily, and just as we planned, they let their guard down and threw a massive celebration at the infamous fighting ring. It was almost comical how easy it was.
Alejandro's ego allowed him to believe he had truly killed me, and with no one left to challenge him, he clearly believed he was untouchable.
Alejandro would die tonight, and this time, he would remain six feet under where he belonged.
I lit a cigarette and forced my expression into a hard mask. Blaze followed a few meters back. I felt his anticipation radiating like waves.
The cavern was too packed to see much beyond what was right in front of you, but I could sense Keira's presence like she was part of me. I knew without a doubt that she was in this room with me.
I had to clench my jaw and restrain myself from pushing through the men around me and run to her.
I saw a flash of gold through the gaps of bodies around me and I had no choice but to quicken my pace. My carnal need to see her clouded my judgment long enough to shove past whoever stood in my way.
I reached back and wrapped my hand around the warm metal of my gun. The second I broke free of the crowd, I stumbled and inhaled sharply.
My eyes locked on her, caged in Alejandro's arms as he sat on his pathetically gaudy golden throne. One hand traced the skin of her thigh while the other weaved through strands of onyx hair.
Unfiltered rage consumed me at the sight of his hands on her. Her movements were sloppy and I immediately knew she was heavily intoxicated.
She turned her face away from him in disgust as he whispered in her ear, and the full image of who she truly was to me hit my chest like a bullet train, knocking the air from my lungs.
She wasn't just my solace. She was my dark angel. The dark angel whose very existence saved me from myself.
The kid on top of the roller coaster a lifetime ago would be proud. I knew then and there, she was created for me. My dark angel found me and I failed her.
That motherfucker had his hands all over her. War would be too kind.
Time moved in slow motion as he lifted his hand from her hair and moved towards her throat with venom in his eyes. Before a thought could form, my arm lifted and a gunshot echoed throughout the cavern. Silencing every soul.
The bullet pierced Alejandro's hand, splashing blood across Keira's pale chest and face. Alejandro roared but Keira's reaction was slower. She glanced around the room and slowly, glassy eyes locked with mine.
Alejandro shot up, roughly throwing her to the ground at his feet. His good hand found his own gun instantly.
"You're alive." Keira's shocked sob echoed almost as loud as the gunshot. Her lip quivered as she stared at me like I was a ghost.
