Tommy
A hard pounding on my bedroom door shocked me out of a deep sleep.
I opened my eyes in the dark room and subconsciously felt around the bed for Keira. The spot she was previously occupying within my arms felt empty and cold. A terrible feeling settled over me.
"KNOX!" Viper burst through the door without waiting for a response, he was on a warpath.
"What the fuck?" My voice was husky with sleep, I sat up in bed and shot him a murderous glare. I clearly hadn't been sleeping long, I felt beyond exhausted; almost worse than before I fell asleep in the first place.
"Hurry! Something is going down with Keira." Unless he was angry, Viper was always cool and collected, almost like he was constantly stoned. I don't think I've ever seen him this shaken, and over Keira no less?
Adrenaline pulsed through me, I shot out of bed and crossed the room before Viper could take another breath.
"Where is she?" I snapped, stalking into the hall with no direction.
"Follow me." Viper pushed past me and burst through a door near the end of the hall. "Don't overreact, she begged us not to call you." He warned nervously, baring me from entering until I agreed.
"Get the fuck out of my way before I snap your spine and rip it out of your body." I infused every once of menace I could imagine in my words and he physically cowered.
I didn't care what Keira said, no one was keeping me from her, least of all Viper.
I walked in to utter chaos. Blaze was kneeling on the floor trying desperately to hold a hyperventilating Keira in place and soothe her as she rocked back and forth muttering like a crazy person. Her hair was fanned around her face wildly as she tugged at it roughly. She was losing control over her sanity completely, it broke a piece of me to witness.
In my line of work, I've seen this many times before, hell I've caused it. I've tortured people until they were psychologically ruined, I've watched countless men spiral into some of the worst panics at my hand, I revelled in it. Not this time.
I stared at the scene before me in shock. It has never caused me so much internal agony to see someone in this position before, I was completely out of my element and it terrified me. I've driven people to the point of no return but I had no experience pulling them back, and from the looks of it, neither did Blaze.
His eyes were wild, almost as panicked as hers. We were all running on adrenaline as she psychologically shattered in our incapable hands.
Blaze glanced up at me, completely freaked. "I don't know what to do Knox!"
"NO!" She screamed, her voice cracking. "NO KNOX!"
What the fuck? She was okay with Blaze and Viper being here with her but she didn't want me? Everything about this situation was causing my chest to constrict with a feeling so foreign it had to be hurt. I never cared enough about anything or anyone enough to get hurt, until now.
"Move!" I barked, shoving Blaze away from her. I knelt in front of her slowly. "Keira... What's wrong baby?" Her eyes cracked open and she immediately began shuffling back until she hit the wall, like she was afraid of me.
I shot a glance at Viper and Blaze, they each shook their heads like they had no idea why she would react this way. I took a deep breath and ignored the slow burning ache that permeated through my whole body.
I approached her slowly like she was a wild animal. Her breathing was so erratic, I was convinced she might pass out from a lack of oxygen any second. She couldn't breathe and I had no idea how to fix it. I wrapped my palms around her face carefully, her eyes remained pinched shut while her fingers dug into her scalp, tangling in her golden strands. She was sweating and trembling under my hold but I refused to let go.
