Breaking Limit

Bani's PoV
I feel a tender touch on my cheek, but I'm too tired to open my eyes. I feel the patting again. Can someone please open the eyes for me!!!

"Bani.....we're here. Wake up baby." Ah....!who wants to wake up when someone sings so sweetly in your ear tell me....

"Bani...! Wake up! We're at the temple." this time the voice becomes grumpy, so does the patting.

I force my eyes to open and get welcomed by bright sunlight and a face as handsome as the weather. My husband. He smiles slightly at me but his eyes stay rigid. He's angry again??

I jerk up quickly and get stuck by the seatbelt. I was leaning on him all this time. When did I come this near to him?

"I'm sorry!!! I didn't realize...." I mumble not wanting him to get anymore angry.

"You slept like a pig, girl. For almost 5 hours. Now get down. We need to do this early." he says while unfastening my seatbelt.

I straighten my saree and hair and get down off the car. The temple is visible from here. We walk side by side across the ally road. When I look at Veer, I see him walking squinting his eyes to the sunlight. His facial expression is still somehow bemused. I wonder what it is that pissed him so much.

"What's the time...?" I ask Veer. I don't feel hungry but my whole body is feeling like it's just got off bed from a long term illness.

"It's 15 minutes to 3:00 pm. And you still didn't eat anything." Veer replies irritatedly.

Realization hits me. I stop Veer holding his hand, "Veer, you still didn't have your lunch, right? Why didn't you stop somewhere nearby and have your lunch? Do one thing, you go back to the car, find some hotel or restaurant and have your lunch. I'll go to the temple and finish the ritual. I'll call you when I'm done. Okay?"

Veer's face keeps growing more annoyed as he listens to me. Then sighs exasperatedly, "Bani, you didn't have a drop of water since God knows when. And you're saying that I'll eat without you? You think food will pass down my throat when you are suffering so much in empty stomach??? I just don't understand why you cannot do the ritual without fasting when you have option to do so!!" he scowls at me.

Oh!!! So this is why he's so pissed!

For a moment I'm overwhelmed, but immediately his words in the car strikes me. If he cannot understand my feelings, then he has no right to be concerned for me😐.

"There are many more things that you don't understand, Veer. So, better don't bother about this one.😐" saying this I start walking towards the temple not caring to take him along with me.

After walking for about 5 min we reach the temple. The temple is pretty high with about fifty stairs. I'm about to climb up when Veer stops me.

"You're gonna climb all these steps???" He asks me looking bemusedly at the stairs.

"Yes. How else do you think we're gonna reach up there??" I snap at him.

"Damn! You're fasting. Let me carry you." Veer says moving towards me.

I hold my hands up to stop him and retort, "In case you're trying to be Shahrukh Khan, let me remind you, I'm Noo Deepika. So no need to go all filmy and carry me up there. I can manage this much. Plus the stairs are not so high, they are quite sloppy. So please...." I sign him to move on his own.

Veer scowls at me for a moment. Maybe the filmy comparison has hurt his ego. But right now I'm more thrilled about satisfying MY ego.

We go up breaking all the stairs. I huff a little to catch my breath and Veer looks up at me...well, more like glares at me. I immediately pretend to be all fit and fine straightening myself, try to hum a bit too...but all I get from Veer is a disgusted look.
