"Did you like your first two hours at this school?" Amelia asks as we walk out of the classroom together.
"Yeah, I actually really enjoyed them." I answer her and she smiles. We got a paper where our teacher, Mrs Millows, listed everything we need for her class, including the English coursebooks. Amelia then proceeded to inform me, that I have time until next week to get all the notebooks and binders for school. And that I will get a list like this from every teacher, which is kind of great because I completely forgot that I have to buy supplies for school, even though this is what most teens love about a new school year starting.
"Okay, so you already know about the school supplies. The next thing that I need to teach you is how you will find your classroom. We have five main buildings. The dorms, the gym, the classrooms, the lunch hall combined with the secretary and lastly the laboratory. It's pretty simple actually. So, if we start on the left we have the dorms first, then comes the gym, after that and in the middle of it all is the lunch hall, fourth you have classrooms and on the far-right side you can find the laboratory but you won't need it anyways this year. On your schedule you can always see a capital letter and then a number. For example room C345 would be c for classroom, three for third floor and 45 for room 45. Lunch hall is LH and laboratory is just L. Was this helpful or are you just confused?" She asks after explaining it to me and I nod, quickly taking the information in.
"Yes, I get it."
"Awesome. We have lunch now which is from twelve to one, breakfast is from seven to eight and dinner is from six to seven- but you can always skip it if you want to go and eat outside or something." Amelia is quite good at explaining all the new things to me and I am seriously grateful for having her as my neighbour and friend, I guess.
"Do you do that often? I mean skip lunch or dinner?" I ask out of curiosity and she shakes her head, "No, not really. It is a tradition in my friend group to eat together and to do that always. They are my second family and it feels a lot homier here when you eat together with your family, you know?"
I can see the smile as she talks about her friends and know immediately that she really loves and cares about them because this is something that I do too when talking about Milli or Simon.
"I know what you mean." I answer and smile too.
"That's great, because you will get to meet them right about now." She grins and pulls at my hand in order to run towards the lunch hall. The closer we get, the more you can hear students chatting and girls squealing.
We enter the cafeteria and the first thing that I notice is that this place gives me serious Hogwarts vibes. A little bit more modern and instead of three long tables, there are many smaller ones but are still placed in three long rows. It makes sense because that way not everybody has to sit next to each other and each friend group can probably have their own table to sit at. At the end of the left side are the cooks and kitchen.
"There they are!" Amelia pulls me out of my admiring gaze and towards a table in the middle of the window row.
"Amanda!" She shouts and drops my arm in order to run towards a girl sitting at the table.
"Amelia!" The girl shouts back and they collide with a typical bear hug. Standing there, the two girls look like complete opposites. While Amelia has straight black hair and is wearing sweatpants a simple crop top, Amanda has blonde hair styled in big curls and is wearing a tightly fitting red skirt and white polo shirt.
I stand there awkwardly and look away from the two girls in their own world to glance at the other two boys sitting at the table with their backs to me. My eyes widen for a second when the all black outfit with leather jacket and light brown locks seem all too familiar to me.
