"I have a strange feeling about this." I say as Milli and I stare up the front facade of the mansion that Luke calls his house. Yeah, totally a simple house.
"This is going to be amazing, Hailey. I can feel it. She tries to reassure me and we walk up the driveway filled with at least five cars. The others are parked down the entire street which makes it even easier to find the party. There are teens strolling around the front yard with red solo cups in their hands, all of them talking with each other in little groups. A few girls have taken a seat on the sofa and swing situated on the front porch of this mansion. How they are not freezing their butts off in those mini skirts and dresses is beyond me. I notice Milli eyeing them as well, her thoughts probably matching my own ones.
"We look way better in our outfits." She proudly states and I laugh, swaying my hips purposely. Our looks only differentiate each other by the colours of our hair and clothes. Both of us have our hair in tight, high ponytails, that look like those ones with bubbles in them. Our eyes are popping and standing out because of our bold fake lashes that were a pain to glue on perfectly, I tell you. Maybe that was because we never usually put on that much make-up or put in so much effort into our appearance like we did today. We even went as far as gluing those little stones we bought at Douglas in swirly patterns on our neck and upper chest. But I guess you only once get the chance to be a senior celebrating Halloween in London with not one, but two handsome looking guys as friends. And to be single on that day as well.
Lucky us.
The front door is ripped wide open with more teens walking in and out constantly. The closer we get, the louder the music blasts into our ears. We finally enter and are greeted by a wave of warm and sweaty air hitting us.
"Should we try and find the kitchen first?" Milli asks me by my side and I nod.
"I think a drink or two will definitely help us."
So we take on and continue to walk straight ahead until we eventually reach the open kitchen-living room space. The only thing keeping me from checking out who is at the other end of the room, are the girls and boys our age standing everywhere in between. Most of them swaying to the music.
A shirtless guy hands us two cups and moves to fill them up with some kind of alcoholic drink but I stop him, knowing exactly that you do not take any drinks from anyone but yourself at a party.
"We'll do that ourselves, thanks though." I decline and he shrugs and turns away from us again.
"What are we having tonight?" I ask Milli as we look through the offered beverages.
"I think vodka juice is always good." She answers and I nod, taking a bottle of orange juice to pour in while she handles the vodka.
"Cheers." We say before downing our drinks, something we probably shouldn't have done but I don't care right now.
I spot a flash of red on the other side and take Milli's hand in mine. "Come on, I found them."
"Found who?"
Her question stays unanswered as we make our way through the share of people until we reach the living room area with two huge sofas full of people talking. On second glance, I think they're actually playing some kind of drinking game.
Luke stands up, pulling Sammy with him and I see the smirk immediately growing on his face. The only difference is that I'm smirking as well.
"Seems like you had a change of plan, no?" I ask looking him up and down in their matching shirtless firefighter costumes.
"Why? Are you sad you only get to see me partly naked?" He gestures to his exposed and rock-hard abs that any girl would melt a seeing.
"Totally, it was the only reason I came here in the first place. But now, since I'm clearly disappointed, I should probably leave again."
