After talking to Audree I start to walk back to my dorm room.
I reach into my pocket and pull out my phone. Even though I know it's most likely dead, I press the power button. The battery pops up with the sliver of red left and a slash cut through it, signaling that my phone is definitely out of battery.
With a defeated sigh, I start to walk up the stairs leading to my dorm room.
I stumble over one, but I make it safely back inside of my room.
Chris is sitting on his bed, headphones over his ears, and his computer screen covering his face.
At the sound of me shutting our dorm door, he jumps up, throws his headphones off his ears, and looks my way.
"Aye, Z. Where've you been all day?"
I sigh and toss my phone to my bed.
"I spent a lot of time in the library studying with Audree."
I put emphasis on the word lot.
"Big test or something coming up?"
I nod.
Chris let's out an understanding hum and goes back to whatever he was doing on his computer.
Taking this as my chance to leave, I walk to my dresser and grab the necessary stuff to take a shower.
Before I walk out the door, I put my phone on the charger and head for the showering room.
Luckily enough, all of the showers are free. They're usually a lot busier around 8:00 p.m.
I wash up, get dressed, and then exit the shower.
Chris is sleeping on his bed when I'm back.
I plop down onto my bed and grab my phone.
The missed call from earlier left a message.
(323) 987-6543 Hey Zahaire, it's Delilah. I called you but you didn't answer haha.... but here's my digits.
As I read the message my heart skips a beat.
Oh shit! I think to myself as I sit up on my bed. Finally!
I think about what to write back to her.
Hey there Delilah!
I hover over the send button but delete the message in the end.
Hey, what's up
Almost immediately Delilah answers me.

(323) 987-6543 I'm just playin.... nothing much, just woke up because of your friends loud snoring 😝. Wbu
Haha yeah she snores loud as hell. I'm just chillin. How was your day?
As I wait for Delilah to answer me, I go ahead and add her to my contacts list.

I text Delilah until my eyes start burning and I can't manage to keep my eyes open anymore.
