Melissa's POV
My summer went by pretty quickly, and despite being a part death eater, it actually wasn't too bad. I got to go to Grimmauld Place a lot to "spy" on the order, which was always a lot of fun because I got to see Hermione. I've also become a lot closer with Ginny as well during my time there. I don't think I'll ever develop a close relationship with Harry or Ron, both of them still don't fully trust me because I'm a Slytherin and a death eater. Nearly everyone else there trusts me luckily, and it makes it feel like they're my second family at this point.
My father keeps saying he's "so proud of me", and it always makes me feel really awkward. We never had the closest relationship, I mean let's face it, he was in Azkaban since I was a baby. He also keeps saying how much I turned out to be "just like him", which makes me really angry and takes all my willpower not to punch him.
Right now it's August 31st, my birthday! This morning I hung out with my family and Draco's family, and Draco and I had a lot of fun together. At the moment I'm getting ready for the party I'm supposed to be having at Grimmauld Place. I decided to wear a cute but stylish Slytherin outfit, hoping Severus would like it.
Outfit:
I'm really unsure about my relationship with Severus at the moment. He said he loved me at the end of last year, it might've been quiet, but I definitely heard it. Then why has he been so distant lately?
I haven't heard from him all summer, and it was starting to worry me. Did I imagine it? Are we really together?
I've only seen him a few times in meetings, but he avoided making eye contact with me and left before I could talk to him. What is going on? Why is he avoiding me? Does he really love me?
With those thoughts swirling around in my head, I walked downstairs and went outside. I didn't have to get someone to apparate me now, because I just turned 17, and don't have to worry about the Trace. Dumbledore had to pick me up before, and I always felt really bad that he had to keep going out of his way to get me every day. He said it was no problem, but I still felt bad.
I quickly apparated there before I was late, and as soon as I walked through the door, everyone came out and yelled "Happy Birthday!" to me. Though that obviously wasn't thought through very well, because the moment they yelled, Mrs. Black's portrait started screaming her usual rant and they had to quickly move to try and shut her up.
Everyone then went to quietly move into the kitchen, and the moment I walked in I sighed in contentment. Mrs. Weasley had really gone all out with my birthday feast, and it smelled heavenly. As I sat down to eat, Hermione and Ginny sat next to me, and they told me all about the elaborate pranks Fred and George had pulled over the last week. I was laughing through most of my dinner.
I was so distracted that I didn't even notice that Severus was there until an argument broke out between him and Sirius. Oh no.
"I've told you, Black, I'm not arguing with you in the middle of her birthday dinner!" Severus growled at him, trying to stay calm.
