Story Note:

There are going to be some mentions of suicide and self-harm in this chapter that might be a trigger for some people, so if that's you, I will put a warning up so you can skip it. At the beginning of that part, I will put (***TRIGGER START***), and at the end of that part, I will put (***TRIGGER END***). I quite honestly think I might have put the ending for the possible trigger at the wrong spot, please tell me if you think there is a better spot to put it, or if I should put a second one up anywhere, I really don't know where I should put the warning at. 😩 Or should I just put a warning up for the entire chapter? I really don't know, I'm sorry if this does affect anybody, just if you see any words that might have an affect you, just skip and skim it until it seems okay again. Please someone help after reading this, I want to make it right for other readers!

That's enough from me, so here's chapter 9! Enjoy!

Severus' POV

I quickly glanced up at Melissa, but she was still lost in her thoughts, so I looked back down and started to read the article.

The Hogwarts Scandal

Professor Severus Snape, the former Potions Master and Death Eater, and now DADA professor at Hogwarts, has been reported by the student body to have been having an affair with student Melissa Bennett. This brings up many questions for me. How long has this been going on? Why is Severus Snape suddenly trying to find love, when he has been the way he is for years? Is he just using her as a toy? Is she aware of how he's using her? What are her intentions in this relationship? And why hasn't Dumbledore done anything about this? I was about to set out to find these answers, when a shocking piece of news was revealed.

Last night Mrs. Bennett's dead body was reported, shortly after Severus Snape and Melissa Bennett were visiting. I went to Mr. Andrew Bennett, for his account of what happened. He came in with tears falling from his eyes, clearly upset over the loss of his wife. He told me "I just can't believe this happened. I was coming home from a late-night run to the grocery store, to find Snape and my daughter in my living room. Next thing I knew, my wife was dead, and I was dueling with Snape." I asked him if Snape was mad because he didn't accept their relationship, and he answered with "I imagine so yes, but I can't even begin to think why they thought we would be okay with this!"...

I couldn't keep reading anymore. I slammed my fist on the table, which made Isa jump. "What's wrong?" she asked me. "I'll show you in our chambers, come on," I answered and we quickly walked back.

"So what is it, Severus?" she asked me once we had walked inside. I passed her the article, and she went to sit on the couch and read it. As she read it, I saw her face twisting in anger.

Once she had finished reading, she smacked it down onto the table, stood up, and started walking around the room, yelling, "She can't be allowed to say things like that! She's making it seem like we're only dating to have sex! Can two people not be together just because they love each other?!"

I stood up to try and calm her down, but she wasn't anywhere near finished, and she didn't want to stop now. "And don't even get me started on my 'father'! First, he kills my mother, his wife, while trying to kill you, and then instead of showing any sort of remorse, he immediately starts denying it! He twists the story completely to make it seem like he's the good guy! It's unbelievable!"

Before she could continue any more, I cut her off by speaking. "Darling, believe me, I know. We will report her to the Ministry, there isn't much more we can do about her. We will also figure out a plan with Dumbledore on how to deal with your father. For now, we should just focus on getting through the day, alright?" I told and then asked her. She nodded slightly, and so I grabbed her school books and bag for her and walked her to her first class of the day.
