for the remainder of that day I spent my time in the Colonel's tent until mine was ready. The colonel came into his tent, his face full of bitterness and a small scowl lingering on his brow, he turned towards me and gestured for me to stand up and follow me "While you are here you will obey my orders, I will bring you food and water for you as I know the nature of my men and when you are not working you will be confined to your tent"

"Colonel?"

"what is it?"

"When can I go back to my family?" I asked once again and in response he stopped and turned towards me "I only want to know, please?"

The Colonel looked at me and shook his head "Until you are no longer any use to me" he shrugged and stopped outside of my tent "Make yourself at home, you will be here a while"

"Sir please...I just want to go home" I looked up at him with teary eyes

"And you made a deal with me" His voice got lower and lower out of anger "You agreed to said deal, not me"

"It wasn't really like I had a choice! You threatened to kill my family!"

"Mable-"

"Don't you dare say my name! I thought you were a kind man, not someone who tares families apart!" I spat and he just looked at me with surprise "you are the one who deserves to be lying cold in an unmarked grave!"

Without saying anything he left me outside of my tent and stormed back into his own, Initially I felt horrible until I remembered who he was and what he had done. Around an hour had passed and I heard the Colonel talking to his men, well more like questioning them, something about a privet being almost shot by a mysterious man.

That would surely send him into a mood after receiving that news. Great an even more angry mad man, just what this world needs. I don't know what went wrong in his childhood, I'm not sure if I even want to know. This man would be the death of me. For some reason a man walked into my tent and dipped his head down respectfully, I sat up from the cot I was laying in and looked towards the man

"Excuse me are you Miss Smith?" he asked, causing me surprised at how kind he was.

"Yes that is me, why do you ask?"

"Colonel Tavington has asked for me to check up on you"

Seriously? That man didn't even have the guts to come here and say that himself "I'm completely fine, please excuse me for a moment" With those words I stood up and stormed out of the tent and into the Colonel's, he was sat upright on his bed writing a journal of some sort.

Tavington looked up at me and narrowed his eyes "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" he shouted and stood up "Get out!"

"Answer me this, why are you sending people to check up on me?!"

"Because you are clearly incapable of taking care of yourself!"

"How dare you!" I sneered and locked my eyes with his "I'm perfectly capable!"

"Of course you are, now get out before I have you shot" his voice was eerily calm making me tremble slightly "go!" he shouted and I wasted no time in rushing back into my tent.

The man I met on the dirt road was completely different to the man I know now. His eyes showed nothing but coldness and his actions told me that he was stone hearted. That night sleep didn't come to me easy, I couldn't help but think about what was to become of me. Of what was to become of my family.
