It had been a week since we left Middleton Place, Fort Carolina was more homey more than anything. Thankfully it wasn't as big as Middleton Place which was a God sent gift for the both of us. Our room was similar to the one at Middleton but this time we had a fireplace and chairs set up in the far corner of the room.

Every so often he would wake and pull me closer, kiss me softly and slowly ease back into a slumber

I felt William stir slightly in his sleep, causing me to look down at the man resting on my breast. Between his thick, healthy curls, I noticed a few stray gray hairs that had grown. My poor William. Yesterday, he got sent on Patrol and then was ordered back at Wisborough. When he eventually got back to the fort, he had a small bowl of lamb stew and went straight to sleep.

A few rebellious strands of hair covered his face, it was rather cute actually. I let out a soft chuckle and brushed the pieces of hair out of his face, gently tucking them behind his ear afterwards.

William's lips were slightly parted, allowing a quiet huff to escape his mouth. He was usually a light sleeper, something like a creaky floorboard could wake him, but right now he was too deep in a slumber to care.

A subtle 'humph' escaped William's lips, he raised his head and looked up at me with half-open, hazy eyes.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you" I mumbled and all William did was slump into his pillow and stare at me "Please say something"

"Beautiful" he muttered before bringing his hand up to my cheek, cupping it gently "So very beautiful" William looked towards the door and then do his uniform that was scattered across the floor before focusing back on me "...I have to be on horseback by midday, we have an ambush planned, afterwards I have today and tomorrow free"

"it hurts to see you leave each time" I glanced at the clock. 9am. William noticed my reaction and in response he tilted his head to the side "Be safe, alright?"

All he did was nod and shoot me a small smile "I always am"

I stroked his cheek gently "and do you promise to spend time with me tomorrow?" I asked, my voice was filled with hope.

"I promise you" he softly spoke before leaning on his elbow. I pushed him backwards and straddled his waist, much to his surprise "Christ..." William chuckled and sat up, pulling me closer by my hips as he did so "You say I'm a hooligan?"

"because you are the hooligan, I'm just trying to wake you up"

"to get me up, bribe me with a kiss or flapjack"

"flapjack?"

"My favourite as a child, my mother used to bake it for breakfast every Sunday" he whispered before dipping down and kissing just above my ear.

"You had a sweet tooth then?" I asked and William hummed in response.

He slowly brought his head back up and pecked the tip of my nose "but for now, I'd rather spend some time with my wife" William ran his fingers up the line of my back before bringing me into a kiss "To whom I love so dearly"

"I love you more" I ran my hands up his sides and his muscles twitched slightly "Oh god...your not..." with my words I faintly traced his sides once again.

"Stop" he said flatly, visibly trying his best not to peep a laugh. He obviously failed, bursting into laughter once I started to dance my fingers across his abdomen "Mable-" William shrieked "Mable-please" he pleaded.

I giggled softly and took my fingers away, he tried catching his breath before falling backwards "Now I know your weak spot" his eyebrows were scrunched as he crossed his arms over his stomach.
