I woke up that morning to feel William stir slightly in his sleep, his arms were wrapped tightly around me and his head was resting on the pillow behind him. It was a strange feeling waking up in a bed that wasn't yours, but he was my future husband and truth be told I couldn't wait until we were wedded. His chest was softly pressed against mine and every so often he move slightly before settling back down. Having him there made me feel safe and secure like he wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt me. half of his hair covered his face and he looked so peaceful, so calm and collected. Without thinking I gently ran my fingers through his hair and then put a few loose locks behind his ear. His eyes cracked open slightly revealing a glimmer of the his blue eyes "I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you" I apologised in a half whisper and took my hand away.
"I couldn't think of a better way to wake, I have the most beautiful sight in front of me" He smiled and held his hand over mine. William closed his eyes once again and smiled softly before bringing our combined hands up to his lips, he brushed his lips against the back of my hand before opening his eyes once again "Waking to you every morning will be the most treasurable sight of all"
"And waking up to you would be the best gift on this earth" I smiled slightly and stared into his eyes "You have the most fascinating eyes, they are not grey but nor are they blue" at my words he let out a very soft but breathily chuckle "I'm speaking the truth, They have an unmistakable colour"
"I didn't know that you paid so much attention to my eyes" William mumbled and smiled sweetly, his slowly faded as he moved a piece of hair out of my face "Divine, that is all I can describe you as" he twirled a piece of my hair around his finger "You are the definition of beauty and you are purer that the whitest flower on earth" as he spoke he gently ran his fingers down my cheek "And I am constantly asking how I got the attention of such an angelic woman, it feels so unreal that you chose me over all other men"
A small pink flush invaded my cheeks and he couldn't help but smile "I chose you because you are extraordinarily handsome, kind and gentle" I uttered and rested my hand on his shoulder, he looked at where my hand was and slowly looked back into my eyes "I love you for who you truly are, for the man you truly are"
William nuzzled against the pillow and pouted ever so slightly before gently running his hand from my shoulder to my hand "I will always be yours and I will always take care of you, until the day my body no longer draws breath" he intertwined our fingers and placed them on his chest "I fight for you, my daring, I will fight this war so that I can spend my life with you"
"You're far too good for me" I muttered and William pulled me closer to him, wrapping his arms around me protectively before he pressed a soft kiss on my forehead "And who knew you could be so soft and loving"
"Very few people know of my soft side, but your the only one who will ever receive such affection from me" William gazed at me and a smile invaded his lips "I've never spent a morning like this with anyone, it's so calming and comforting"
"Well once we are wed, every morning could be spent like this, if that is what you desire of course" I muttered and ran my fingertips over his cheek, he exhaled slightly before nodding gently "For the short time that we've known each other, I cannot imagine being with anyone else other than you"
"And nor can I imagine sharing anything with anyone but you" William spoke softly before bringing the midnight blue covers over us both "I want to stay with you forever, just like this with not a care in the world, in a world of our own"
"One day, when this war is over, we could build a home together" I rested my hand in the centre of his chest and traced imaginary shapes on it "However big or small, I want to be part of it all"
