I woke up to William kissing my neck softly and pulled me closer "Will...it's too early..." I groaned and he just smiled and pecked my lips, he rolled his eyes and fell to the side before pouting and looking towards me "Don't give me that look it doesn't work with me"

"Mable, my dear sweet love, do I have permission to kiss you?"

"you should know that flattery doesn't work as well"

He let out a defeated breath and face planted his pillow "very well" William mumbled and hugged onto his pillow. But before I could say anything, he looked up at me with pleading eyes "Mable?"

"Yes dear?"

"I love you"

"I love you too"

he smiled slightly and intertwined our fingers "Can I have the honour of kissing you?"

"If I say yes will you shut up?" he nodded frantically before bringing his face closer to mine "Colonel, did I say yes?"

"Oh you little tease" William muttered before wrapping an arm around my stomach "mine" he joked and pulled me closer.

"yours"

"Now I beg, let me kiss you"

"Nope"

"Why do you deny me such a comfort?" he asked and pouted like a school boy who's just had his sweets taken from him.

I glanced at the clock "Because it's 8am"

"your point being?"

"My point being that it's early"

"it's only a kiss" he mumbled before resting his head on my stomach, In response I brushed my fingers through his hair.

"Hmm, it was only a kiss when we arrived at Middleton Place"

"You agreed to marry me"

"I did, didn't I?"

William smiled softly and glanced up at me before kissing my stomach "I Love you"

"And I you" I tilted his chin up and brushed some hair from his face, pushing it behind his shoulder afterwards "Now sleep"

"No"

"William"

"No, do you me to say it in French, non"

"You speak French?"

"En effet je fais mon amour"

"C'est une bonne chose que je puisse te comprendre, n'est-ce pas?"

"oui" he smiled and sat back on his knees "I also speak a little bit of Spanish, mi amor"

"You're very well educated"

"in the small time that my father was wealthy, I had a private tutor" William looked down at me before shaking his head slightly "anyways, it's Christmas eve"

"Your point being?"

"My mother used to let us do whatever we wanted for an hour before we all gathered in the living room for a game of cards"

"that sounds like a brilliant idea"

"it's a silly tradition really, my sister hated it"

"we could ask Borden and see if he wants to join, he's off duty as well isn't he?"

"he is actually with his lover"

"I thought he had a wife"

"He did, she died, he is in love a man, Corporal Andrews"
