Chapter 22

William pulled me into a kiss as he held my hand to his chest "Hmm, you do impress me at times" I softly spoke and twirled a small lock of his hair around my finger "You're so adorable"

"And you're beautiful" he gently tapped the end of my nose with his finger before rolling back onto his back "I'm knackered"

"Well this mornings exertions were bound to use up your stamina" I laid on my stomach and rested my head on his chest, wrapping an arm around him as I did so "maybe take a rest in between next time?"

"I'll be fine, I just need a minute" he let out a small breathy laugh and encircled his arm around me "well, my attempts at seduction worked rather well on you"

"That was a one off, we both know that"

"Was it though?" He cocked an eyebrow and shot me a suggesting look. I smiled as a red flush invaded my cheeks "I take that as a no, but I think you rather enjoyed this morning, didn't you Mrs Tavington?"

I nodded weakly and ran my fingers over his chin "I love you" William smiled and sat up, pulling me onto his lap as he did so, his breathing became a little heavier as well "Surely you aren't tired from that"

"I was tired from seducing you" William let out a soft laugh and rolled us both over "and my efforts in making you feel amazing, have seemed to work as well"

I turned a deep shade of red and shook my head "You are so annoying"

"But you love me"

"exactly, so how did I end up with you?" I asked while I brushed my fingers through his hair.

"I haven't an idea, we just found each other at the right time it seems"

"Did we?"

"you've made me a better man for just being here, now that you're my wife, I couldn't be happier" William mumbled and kissed me softly before bringing his head back up "And hopefully you return my affections"

"Of course I do, I wouldn't have married you otherwise" as I spoke, I tenderly ran my fingers over his cheek "I love you"

He traced his fingers over my bare hip and thigh before gently caressing the underside of it. William smiled softly before exploring my legs with his hands "You're so beautiful"

William sat back on his knees, placed both of his hands on my hips before pulling me down the bed so I was beneath him "Bloody hell Will!" I laughed as he peppered kisses on my face "You're a maniac"

"Oh, I know" he smirked as his hand travelled from my hip to the inside of my thigh "But I'm almost certain that you like my mischievous side"

"It's one of many things that I love about you"

"May I?" William asked before trailing his fingers further up to my thigh. I smiled shyly and nodded. He leant forward and braced his arm just above my head before brushing his hair over his shoulder "remind me to tie up my hair in future"

"I will" I smiled before hooking an arm around his back and my legs around his waist.

William bit his lip slightly as he pushed into me, us both shuddering at the familiar and gratifying feeling. After a couple of slow movements, we both settled into a gentle rhythm. He tilted my chin up gently to expose the front of my neck and started to kiss just under my jaw. A deep thrust made me tighten my thighs around his waist for a second. I brought my hips down and rolled my hips to meet his thrusts. Both of our breaths became laboured as I started to kiss along his jawline and cheek.

His hand met with my thigh once again and he brought it nearer to his chest so that every thrust could go a little deeper. A wave inside of me started to crest, and when it did, I arched my back to the feeling. William let out a breathy groan before picking up his pace a little. A few small moments passed until he spilt his seed into me.

As we were both coming down from our highs, he continued to rock his hips slowly. When we finally came to a stop he gently stroked my thigh, stopping at my hip before tracing imaginary circles on it with his thumb. William met with my gaze once again and brushed a few strands of hair from my face. I always loved when he took care of me.

We stared at each other for a moment before smiling and bringing each other into a kiss "Oh how I love you William" I mumbled and embraced the man above me.

"I love you more" William mumbled and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead. He slowly pulled away and laid at the side of me "Now shall we actually get dressed and be productive?"

"Do we need to?" I mumbled and turned to face him "I quite like being here with you"

"Unfortunately we have a midday meal to attend along with dinner, I'm sorry but it is required that I attend"

"That's alright" I smiled and ran my fingers through my hair "I couldn't care, you've worked so hard to get where you are now"

"I couldn't be bothered about my rank anymore" he whispered and wrapped an arm around me "You're far too important to me"

"Don't be silly" I muttered and twisted a lock of his hair around my finger "You're a brilliant addition to the army, the perfect soldier"

William let out a small breathy laugh and shook his head. I huddled up to him and he rolled his eyes "I'm far from perfect, you may see me like that, but I make mistakes quite often" I tilted my head to the side and shot him a confused look, he quickly noticed and chose his words carefully "Not in my faithfulness to you, of course, I love you and you only"

"and I love you" I nudged his shoulder and turned to face the other way to take something off my bedside table before looking back at him "I wanted to give you something, well it's literally a piece of parchment, but here"

I took his hand and put the folded up the scrap of paper in his hand. He laid on his side and unfolded the parchment. William's lip turned up into a smile "I adore you" he muttered and pressed a kiss to my forehead. Something as simple as a note that read 'you are the best thing in my life' seemed to be enough to make him happy. I was indeed the luckiest woman on earth.
