Sam and Khai left the house hand in hand, but not before Khai said one last goodbye to Jas and promised to see her again soon. The pair walked down the dark street, illuminated by the street lights, headed back to Sam's house.

Khai hadn't said a word since they left the house, stuck in her own head. The dinner had gone horribly. Also, she was hungry.

"We didn't get to eat the much." She mumbled, glancing down at their interlocked hands. It was weird. A facade, she knew, but he had tried to kiss her.

"Yeah." He replied. "There's a diner, like, five or so minutes away. Wanna head there?"

Khai nodded, and they turned around, walking to the diner. The streets were almost empty, so they got there pretty fast, sliding into a booth in the diner, ordering pancakes and milkshakes when a waitress came over.

"I'm sorry about tonight." Khai said, cracking her knuckles.

"Don't be." Sam frowned. "Your parents are... not great."

She let out a dry laugh. "They never have been." She opened her bag, looking for hand sanitizer, and frowned. "I don't have my phone."

"I have it. You left it on the table. Here." He said, passing it over. "It's been going off like crazy."

Khai checked the notifications and grimaced. "Mom. And Sapnap, but mostly Mom."

Sam snorted. "You and Sapnap are close."

Khai nodded. "One of my best friends."

"One of?" Sam teased. "Who are the others?"

"Well, there's you." Khai said. "And Dream and George. And Ponk, but I haven't talked to him in a while. The merch stuff is keeping him busy."

"Yeah. He's impossible to talk to nowadays." Sam laughed, and she nodded.

The food came and they are, and then left the diner hand in hand again. It made Khai extremely flustered, but she didn't say anything.

They came to a stop outside Sam's house, and she looked up at him, frowning. "Why aren't we going in?" She asked.

Sam looked down, locking eyes with her. "Because I don't want my mom to see when I kiss you." He said.

"Oh." Khai flustered.

Sam let out a laugh. "Can I kiss you?"

Khai blinked, and nodded immediately.
