"Zero used to be an obnoxious little brat. Now, she is my best friend in the whole academy. Ever since Five left, she's been very upset. As her best friend, it is my job to do something about it,"-Diego Hargreeves

Zero's POV

Diego had reluctantly agreed to let me tag along. I insisted that I would be very stealthily and not wreck the mission. Obviously, that was a lie.

"Beeman," Diego said, emerging from the shadows. I skipped behind him.

"Jesus. You shouldn't be here."

I explained, "We need to look at a file, Mr. B."

Diego added on with, "Guy named Harold Jenkins."

"No, you need to leave town. I shouldn't be telling you this, but they're looking at you for her murder."

I gasped- the shadows darkening around me, "You can't be serious. Why would Diego be responsible for that? Last time I checked, Diego's knives are a recreational activity."

Beeman hopped back from with a scared expression, "His prints were all over the crime scene. They had a lot of heated arguments."

I held a knife to the guy's throat, "That doesn't prove anything. Who's to say someone didn't plant his prints. Look, we cared for Patch. Diego wouldn't kill her and neither would I."

Beeman pushed the knife away from him, "It doesn't look good, that's all I'm saying."

"Unbelievable," Diego muttered underneath his breath.

"The only reason I'm telling you this is cause I know you and her used to be close. Personally, I think you're a real pain in the ass. I also you'd never do anything like that. And, as your little sister said, the knives are just for fun."

I smirked, "Who you calling little?" The knife was once again held up to his neck. Diego pulled me back and Beeman took this as an opportunity to hand him a Rabbit's foot. Um, a rabbit's foot? Don't ask me either because I'm still confused.

"Just do me a favour, and stay out of sight, until I have more to go on. Keep your sister safe too. A lot of people knew you worked together, so it's only a matter of time before she becomes your accomplice in this crime."

"We will, but...we can't leave without that file."

Beeman wasn't convinced as he said, "You understand I could lose my job, right?"

I stalked up very close to him and muttered, "You understand that I could kill you very easily, right?"

Diego flicked my ear and I moved back, "That file, it won't...bring Patch back, but it could save some lives. I can't explain to you how, I...I just need you to trust me.

Beeman let out a sigh, "Fine, but I'm scared of your sister, so she needs to wait."

I smiled, "You should be."

I made my way back over to Alison and Five. Alison was using a pay-phone, whilst Five was leaning against a wall. I waved to Five and he grabbed my hand.

"Hey, Vanya, it's me. I just wanted to..." Alison paused and took a breath, "...things have gotten so messed up. And...all I ever wanted was to be a good sister to you...and to Syd. Guess I pretty much failed at that. But you need to call me. Okay? I love you, sis." Alison put the phone on the receiver.

I whispered to Five, "What was that about?"

"Sister stuff. I'd assume you to know more than me, seeing as how you're a sister."
