"Do you ever wonder what causes a person to be filled with pure malice and ill will? If that's what Syd has become, then its father's fault,"-Vanya Hargreeves

Zero's POV

It was a few minutes after Hazel left, that Diego came to awaken. His groaning sounded my ears, causing an eye roll to appear on my eyes. The glass clinked underneath Diego's slow steps.

"Shit," He muttered, moving his eyes to Five and I.

Five sent him a smirk, "Good, you're up. Ready for a drink now?"

Diego- for a moment- looked confused. Key phrase: for a moment. He shot up quickly, after remembering his task. Diego's head shot behind him- observing every inch and crevice of the house.

"Where is he?" He asked, after snapping his head back to Five and I.

I glanced over at Five, telepathically asking him, 'Is it best to tell him?'

Five shrugged, 'He's an idiot, so we may as well.'

"We let him go."

Diego almost took a double-take. His eyebrows raised- mouth slightly open agar.

"You what?"

Five straightened out his school-boy jacket, "Now that apocalypse is over, it's time for the fighting to stop."

This didn't ease Diego's concerns, nor did it suppress his anger. In fact, it grew the flame larger. His face scrunched up in annoyance, not bothering to keep up the eye contact with either Five or me. He ripped his knife off the ground- acting like a whiny child.

Five had enough of his immaturity. "Hey, he didn't kill Patch. His partner Cha-Cha did."

Diego threw his hands beside his body, outrage spilling out, "So what? They were both there that night. Syd, why don't you agree with me?"

I took a steady breath, "I didn't say I didn't. I...I'm just evaluating our position-"

"That's bullshit and you know it! Where is the headstrong Sydney? She would have no problem rushing head first into battle. Five or I would do the same thing for you, don't you want to avenge Patch?"

I felt a little taken back by his words. I cared about Patch. I cared about her a lot. But, she wouldn't want Diego acting like this.

"I-I-I just don't know...I don't know if this is the right way to avenge her."

Diego held the face like he was about to chime in with another insult. Five had cut him off, "Look, Diego. This half of the partnership gave me both of their guns. Which will clear you, because the ballistics match Patch's crime scene."

Diego's face softened, as he listened clearer to Five's words.

"Hazel came here looking for a way out. He wanted a fresh start," Five explained.

I locked eyes with Diego, "And he happened to have in his possession the one thing that could do our family a little good."

"So it's time to move on," Five bluntly said, not wanting to spare Diego any more sympathy than necessary.

"Not a chance."

Five shook his head with a sigh, wanting to say more, but knowing that anything more he'd say to Diego wouldn't be effective, "Suit yourself."

Five placed both of our margaritas back onto the bar, interlocking his hand into mine. I grinned, feeling the warmth resided in my hand.

"I am curious," Five began, "Your girlfriend, Patch. What'd you like about her?"
