"Number Zero was a test of trials errors, one that failed so many times that her lifeline spanned across many centuries. An assassin each rebirth, fortunate enough,"—?

Zero's POV

It was almost as though the universe was fucking with me...again. First thing, they think it's a marvellous idea to steal my one and only true love away from me, because it would be a fun laugh. Next, they give me even more powers than before, leading to the eventual—and shall I add mighty painful—power drainages. Then, they think it's a smart idea to kill the one lady who made both Diego and I smile, solely because I decided to get drunk and make-out with Five. Speaking of Five, they then decide why not take the nice happy couple to an assassin firm where the leader lady just happens to be my adoptive mother. And, to top it all off, whatever the hell this is.

"Are you done yet? You have been staring at that wall for ages," Ben asked, tapping his foot against the white floor, which just so happens to be opposite a white wall...and a white ceiling. This was all an entirely white room. If I had to kill someone anywhere, I think we all know where it would be.

"Yes, Benvolio—if that's even your real name—I am done."

"Benvolio isn't my real name—"

I rolled my eyes, "Whatever. To fully preface what I was trying to think. What...the fuck...is going on?"

Ben just let out a hearty laugh before walking away.

I followed aimlessly after him, "Was that a yes? What that doesn't make sense. Where are you going? Where are we going? I'd really appreciate if you told me what's going on because if not...I'm going to kill myself...right here, right now."

Ben didn't slow down his pace or stop moving, "With what weapon?"

I huffed, "With your face!"

"You're going to kill yourself with my face? These insults are so clever, did you write them yourself?"

"Did you write your face...yourself?"

"Syd? Where are you going?"

I turned around to face the my hoodie wearing adoptive brother, "Hell if I know. It seems like I'm dead, am I dead, Benji?"

Ben sighed, "No, but you're close to it."

"That's very nice to know."

I continued walking down the same identical white hallways, not caring to know if I even made a real distance in my strides.

"Syd, please. If you want to get out of here, you need to accept yourself."

I felt the my heart stop—accept what? Accept that I was a monster? I scoffed, "Ben, you have no idea how hard that's gonna be."

"Really? Try me. You do realize I know everything about you."

I frowned—realization not cueing in, or at least not yet, "I don't understand what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure we only had one mind reader in the family, me."

"Mind reader...or murderer?"

'Ben'—although I was starting to believe it wasn't him—glanced his eyes to my hands, my bloody hands.

I felt my breath quicken as I noticed the originally white walls became covered in blood. I looked down to notice everyone of my adoptive siblings bleeding out, inches away from dying.

"Syd..." A croaky voice whispered to me.

"Syd...why did you do this?" The tired voice asked.
