It's been three years.

Three years since Thanos was defeated.

Three years after you've saved Tony Starks life by being the unknown, second option for them to win after Tony wanted to sacrifice himself.

You came flying onto the battlefield literal seconds before Tony would've killed himself with that gauntlet.

There is no denying of the fact that you were proud of yourself and still are, but this little incident may or may not has gone straight to your head and made you a strongly intolerable person, after everything slowly went back to normal.

Everything besides you.

You noticed you weren't welcomed at the compound anymore, so you left.

You went somewhere to get your mind out of the superhero stuff.

Somewhere no one would start conversations about it and even if they would, you wouldn't know since you can't speak the language.

And here you are now. Living in Sperlonga, a small and quiet town in Italy. You bought a small apartment in a building near the coast where you, if it was a good day, could even see the ocean from your balcony. You've been living here for three years now and it has gotten kind of boring, but it's relaxing and safe. That's what you want.

Right?

The day started like every other day, you got up and went to a small market right down the street. The perk of living in a small village is that everything important is in a two-minute reach by feet.

As you get back to your apartment to brew yourself a small cup of coffee to drink on your balcony, you hear a voice. A really quiet and ruffled one, but you still hear it. With the coffee in your hand, you walk around your apartment, trying to make out where the voice is coming from.

When you reach the closet your hand lets the coffee slip out of it and your mouth is wide agape while your heart sunk as deep as it possibly could.

The closet you were standing in front of wasn't your regular one where you keep your clothes in, it was the one where you keep all of your old suits and S.H.I.E.L.D. supplies in, including the small earpiece all of the Avengers used on their missions.

And it didn't take you long to realize where the small voice was coming from now.

Even though you took, not opening the closet and just ignoring it, into consideration, the need to know why the 'Oh so great without you' Avengers needed you now, grew.

After three goddamn years.

You open the closet and grab the earpiece in one swift motion since you still perfectly remember where you put it, even after three years of not opening this closet once. The voice gets louder as you hold the earpiece closer to your head, just to make out who's talking on the other end.

"Y/N... I know you didn't throw the earpiece away, you would never let go of being an Avenger, or am I wrong here?"

Ugh, I saved his damn life and his ungrateful ass is still being rude to me.

"Would you react if I would call you by your superhero name? As far as I know your ego, you would, so please if the Infinity Witch would give me the honor to speak to her right now."

As much as you don't want to give in, his constant pleading was annoying you so you put the earpiece into your ear, pushing onto the little microphone button,

"Oh, so nice to hear from you again Tony, you wanna ask me how my life is? After three years of not caring that would be quite appropriate."

"How I didn't miss this ignorant voice..." you could practically hear him rolling his eyes while saying that.

"Oh, you know I can just take this earpiece out-"

"No, no, hold on Y/N. There is a reason I reached out to you."

Smirking to yourself you knew they needed your help and only yours. Well, being the strongest creature in the Universe does indeed have its perks.

"Must be really bad if you ask the too self-absorbed person for help, huh?"

"See Steve, that's exactly why I didn't want to get her into this."

"That's not on me Stark, originally it was Buckys and Natashas idea," Steve argues.

You hear them argue over the earpiece as your smirk grows knowing exactly that Buck and Nat just wanted you back on the team because they were the only ones not hating you. Maybe because they actually appreciate the energy that was drained from you while defeating Thanos or just because you're a very cool person and there isn't a part that really is unlikable on you.

But who says that about themselves.
Well, it's true though.

"If you guys continue to argue then I'll just assume it isn't too important so please stop wasting my time with your dumb fights because they're really the last thing I miss from being an Avenger."

"No, listen we do need you, even though I hate to admit it especially since my last words before you left were 'We don't need you anyways' so maybe just appreciate that I'm down to earth enough to tell you that I was wrong."

"Oh while we talk about appreciation, maybe stop being such an ass and start to actually be grateful to still be alive because without me developing my real powers you would probably be partly eaten by rats by now."

"And there she goes making it about her amazing saving performance again. Listen, I really don't have the time to make this about you again now so would you please let me explain the situation to you?"

"Go ahead," you roll your eyes at how fast he gave up on arguing with you.

"Well, do you remember the New York attack in 2012? The one where Thor's brother killed so many people?"

"ADOPTED Tony, in the context of him killing and being mean we said we refer to him as 'adopted brother'," no matter how happy you were hearing Thor still living at the compound and being an Avenger after everything he went through, your mind went to the attack where this ridiculously self-obsessed 'God of mischief' tried to rule New York.

"Ah yes, the God of 'I make people kneel'? Yep, remember this dude."

"Is this what we call him now?"

"No Stark it was a fun way of changing his name since he always tried to get people to kne- ... Ugh, sometimes I'm asking myself why you call yourself a genius and why you couldn't just catch on and continue the conversation."

"Sorry Miss perfect, so where were we? Right well, he's back. I know, big shocker. We all thought he was dead blah blah. Yeah I know, we did too but he made it very clear why he's called the God of tricks and mischief and this death was probably one of his best performances"

"Just like me saving you from dying-"

"Steve I can't do this anymore, get your ass over here and talk to her yourself."
