Riley's POV
Everyone has moments in there's life that define them as a person, that shape the reasons of how or why they are the way they are. For most people its a good memory like getting married or having kids maybe even moving on from something bad and going towards the good. We don't often know these moments till time has passed and but some events we know from the start are going to change us completely, some people accept it and learn to deal and other push there emotions aside and deal with the situation the best they can. I have currently chose the second option.
After about 3 hours a voice spoke up
" Riley Davis" my heart skipped a beat at the mans voice I stood up slowly making my way toward the man.
" Hello Riley i'm Dr Cohen, would you like to come to my office so we can talk?" he asked
I just nodded afraid to speak. I followed him down a hallway as he led me into a small office and he motioned for me to sit.
" Well, as you know your mother has stage 4 cancer which is very serious and comes with low recovery rates, we have tried the best that we can on treatments but it seems that it is spreading at a uncontrollable rate, and it is under our recommendation that we stop treatment at this point and make your mother comfortable." he spoke to me trying to put it lightly
" How long?" I asked
" We think she has about 2-3 days left" I tear escaped my eyes which I quickly wiped, I needed to be strong for her. I don't want her to worry.
" Okay, if that's what's best" I said softly
" Can I see her?" I asked
" Yes of course" he said getting up and walking me to her room
" Thank you" I said leaving him at the door
I walked into the room seeing my mother she looked tired and pale but she was still my beautiful mother.
" Hi mom" my voiced cracked
" Hello to my beautiful daughter" she smiled
I walked over to her hugging her as tight as I possibly could, holding her body against mine. I never wanted to leave the comfort of her arms. Tears managed to escape my eyes but I wiped them before she could notice.
" Mom i'm sorry for every time I fought you, and made your job as a mom ten times harder, I love you more than anyone else" I said in her arms
" I know darling, I apologize for not being the best mother in the world but I love you so much, more than you will ever know" she replied
" You have to promise me something" she looked to me
" Anything" I said
" Promise me you'll live, do everything you want, travel, make friends, find a nice guy, do everything your heart desires because this life darling, is so precious and it goes so fast don't ever live with regrets, I loved my life with you and I want you to love your life too"
" I promise mom" I smiled holding back tears
