(3rd pov)
(Y/n) sat there, traumatized by the sound of silence. She was fine with detention, it would have been well, trust me. It's just that, she was stuck with one of the people she hated the most. Tom Riddle. At least she had something to pass her time. There was a chalkboard inside detention and chalk! It was brilliant. She thought.
While the beat-up (Y/n), was doodling and was stuck in her own little world. The boy she despised watched her every movement. Yes, he might have been holding a book but it didn't mean he was paying attention to the leather-covered novel. He watched her intently, the way she would pull up her sleeve when it dropped again or simply the way she tilted her head to study her own art on the board.
Whenever she would constantly check up on him if she had nothing else to do, he goes back to reading his book. The girl wouldn't think anything suspicious of him therefore she'll continue drawing while Riddle finds himself drawn to her again. He tried to stop but he failed to take his eyes off her.
He has never felt like this with anyone, it was distracting and he didn't enjoy it one bit. He snapped away from his thoughts when he heard something break only to find out the other half of her chalk now rolling on the ground.
"Accio chalk." It flew towards her patched-up eye instead of flying towards her hand. This shocked both of them but (Y/n) had a look of relief painted on her face and was happy it didn't hit her other eye. Knowing this would happen again if she tried accio, she just picked it up making Tom quickly avert his eyes somewhere else to avoid seeing something, since she wasn't wearing her robe and how reckless she was with her movement.
"What? You think it's funny?" (Y/n) asked him in an angry tone. "Pardon?"
"Okay, I know you think it's hilarious, ha ha, that I even failed to do accio but at least I didn't fail to keep my other eye."
"I don't know what you mean." He shrugged and pretended to read his book. She, being in a very bad mood, accidentally crushed the chalk on her hand and even she was disappointed at how loose her emotions were. At that point, her drawing of a cat was complete, making her tired. Who wouldn't be? It was a long day with a lot of fighting (which she caused) and an hour with Tom Riddle who didn't dare say a word to her.
"I uhh..." She trailed off while taking a seat across Riddle. He took a short peek from behind his book and saw how awkward she was.
"So...what are you reading? Can you tell me about it?" With a smile that looked forced than ever, (Y/n) requested him for something she's never done in a long time. Back then it was normal for them to read books to each other but now they barely even spoke. Tom didn't respond, making (Y/n) sit there in silence, scratching the back of her head.
"Well, can you?"
"No."
"Pshh okay, whatever." He realized this girl was a threat to his plans and that was the reason he's been so distant from her. He had mixed feelings. He hated her for being so important to him and yet he didn't want to admit that she was, he didn't know that she was. (Y/n), being bored out of her mind only had one motive. She wanted him to talk and if not, she'll just have to infuriate him.
"Hey, Riddle. Knock knock." He rolled his eyes and refused to entertain her. "Oi, Knock knock." No response. "I swear this is good, Knock knock." Tom sighed and finally removed his eyes from the book. "...Who's there?"
"Haha, no one, sike!" He glared at her and eventually went back to reading. She expected this from him of course, after all, who wouldn't be pissed if someone did that to you. "Knock knock." She insisted again. He raised his head, high enough so that he could glare at her and this made (Y/n) snicker. "Come on dude, no need to be so dark." Her plan was working very well because she knew, Riddle wasn't so tolerant with people like her.
"I spy with my gorgeous eyes, something gloomy." He did not bother to answer but he was wondering what she has up her sleeve now. "This isn't a trick this time, I promise." She told him while holding back a laugh but he only flipped a page. "Fine, you wanna know what it is?" (Y/n) paused. "It's your face. Your face is gloomy."
"What on earth could possibly keep your mouth shut?" The irritated boy hastily lowered his book to reveal a (Y/n) with a wide grin on her face. "Tell me what you're reading, then." "No." He told her sternly. "Fine. That's probably just erotica or something. Silly me." That was the last draw for him. He placed his book down and looked at her with slight wonder. "Have you ever read...Erotica?" His voice low and deep in some way. (Y/n) felt her smile slowly drop into a frown.
"...no—but have you?" She mockingly asked him, trying to defend herself. She felt herself uncomfortable with the conversation they were having at the moment but didn't want to seem it. His lips parted in an amused smile as if he could see right through her. "You have read it."
"No, I have not!"
"My, my, (Y/n). I did not know you were the type of person to be fond of that genre."
"I don't know anything about that book okay? I just...I saw it but I didn't do anything other than that!" In reality, she has. Not on purpose though. Back then she did not know what Erotica meant and Marin accidentally sent her a different book. She read the few pages where there wasn't anything vicious happening yet. Her mind sure was opened after that.
"Well..." He trailed off, followed by a smirk. "Since you want me to talk so badly, why don't I enlighten you." Despite the anxiousness, she felt deep down her stomach, there was this side of her eager to know more about it. She was guilty of that. Suddenly, she thought of an escape. "Ah, and you've read one before?" He could not say a word. He was stuck, more like. "Gottcha!" She pointed towards him with a victorious smile. (Y/n) leaned slightly closer to him but he stayed still. "Perhaps I might use that against you someday." His heart skipped a beat but not a slightest clue why. There she was again. Making him feel odd and he assumed she didn't even know what she was doing. If he had his charms, she surely did too. There was no doubt.
"Perhaps you can. But I'm afraid it wouldn't go as planned." She threw herself back to her seat and sighed. "Of course, after all, you're a bloody saint in people's eyes. Blind people." She muttered the last sentence but was loud enough for him to hear. Looking back at him, she saw a light hint of mischief in his eyes which meant she was in danger. Whatever it was, she knew it wasn't good news. "I think I'm good now. You can tell me the rest next time." He raised a brow. "...probably never? That's better off."
But just like how persistent she was earlier, he was willing to give her the same treatment. "I refuse." He smirked. (Y/n) was now terrified of what's to come. Tom was unpredictable and yet you could always predict something bad is going to occur. "I'm good." She gulped. "Ever wonder what happens when two people are alone?"
"N-No."
"You don't? That's quite a surprise." (Y/n) smiled nervously but their eyes were locked together. He rested his chin on his palm, his eyes looking right through her soul. "You could say, things get rather strange."
(Y/n)'s heart was beating out of her chest while trying to stay put. She didn't want to admit that he made her feel strange as well. The way he looked at her made everything else a blur. Riddle, on the other hand, was fond of seeing her this way. Confused about her emotions just like he was. Both of them didn't want to admit they had their imperfections when it comes to this."Now tell me, (Y/n)..." He leaned closer to her. "Do you know this strange feeling?" Her breathing hitched on her throat realizing she was feeling strange around him at this moment. None of this had ever occurred to her. Was this normal? She asked herself. "I do not know."
"Good then. Shall I be the first one to teach you?" Once she finally cut away from his stare, she took a short breath and picked up her things. "It's been an hour. Sir Albus is expecting us." He was indeed amused by the reaction he got from her.
