"Horcrux"

They say holidays are never complete without family and friends. Well, this one surely felt wrong...

I remembered that I planned to stay with Tom this Christmas, but I didn't want to anymore because of the sudden change in our relationship. He called me mudblood and an imbecile. He's called me an imbecile before but it meant different when he said it.

"Pick you up tomorrow at nine pm."
Marin patted my shoulder. She noticed the frown on my face and sighed. "Please forget about Riddle. That sicko doesn't deserve you."

"Why do you think he did that to me? I have been nice to him ever since."
I asked her.

"(Y/n), I think it's best if we talk about this in my house. The train is leaving but...it pains me seeing you like this."

"... I know, I'm sorry."

"Don't be. I'll prepare a Tom Riddle shaped piñata!"

"No! I don't hate him that much!"

"I know, I know...just-just. All I'm saying is that smiling would lighten up your mood a bit."

"Okay, I'll smile." I managed to pull off a wide smile making Marin's face scrunch up.

"No don't force it."

"But you said smiling would help."

"Well, that's cringing. There's a difference."

"Alright, I'll work on it I guess. C'mon let's go, the train's leaving." We hopped on the train and the distinct smell of sweets and home hit us instantly. This train holds a lot of memory, not only for me but I'm guessing Marin has her share as well.

Senan was already waiting in the compartment with a wand licorice in his hand on a book on the other.
"What took you so long? It was getting bloody lonely in here."

"We had to talk about something, sorry." I said while sitting down near the window. Marin was putting her bags on the shelf and sighed. "Going back to my house isn't very pleasant."

What does she mean? Doesn't she want to spend time with her family again? "But I'm glad you two like being around me."

Senan made a small gasp. "Is this the lady Marie Nour being emotional?"

"Ugh, you ruined it for me." My cat made her way to my lap and started purring like crazy. "You miss me dont you? Why do you always run away?"

Just like an idiot, I expected her to reply and talk to me like a human. I never knew where she runs off to whenever she's gone. I'm only happy that she's not hurt in any way, I could say im a pretty irresponsible owner.

"Look it's Malfoy! Quick make fun of him!" Marin exclaimed and started making faces towards Abraxas who was still outside and talking with his friends. Senan didn't do anything and instead covered his face with the book he was reading.

"Marin that's just mean." He said.

"This doesn't happen occasionally! Make the most of it."

"I'd rather not."

"Suit yourself."

"I wonder what they're up to lately. They rarely showed up in the great gall last month." Marin was right. There was something off about them.

"Well..." Senan trailed off.

"Well, what?"

"It's a long story but I might know something connected to these odd incidents."

"You can start right now."

"Hold on, I dont know where to start."
Marin and I decided to give him some time to think. Clues keep arising and I can't wait to get to the bottom of this.
